Cedarbrook Apartments

I moved there in October 2006. We looked at about 7 apartments until we found one decent enough. The leasing agents laughed at us but i can't live nowhere that is in such bad shape. The first day we moved in you could not put anything down for fear the roaches may carry it away. I left a coke on the counter for five minutes to come back to six roaches crawling all over it. The next day we went to Walmart and bought some foggers. I took pics of this b/c I wanted proof this was disgusting living conditions. I made them put me on the list to have our house sprayed for atleast two months.
We moved in and there was mold on both bathroom ceilings and paint in the bathtub fell into the drain that was just a hole in the bottom of the tub. I went down there once to twice a week for almost the entire time we lived there. There were many other problems but these were just the worst. Also the dishwasher was not anchored into the counter so every time we opened it, it fell. What a talent to be able to load the dishwasher while its facing down ready to fall!!!
In January God struck!! The apartment above us had their dryer catch on fire. The firemen came in and made a beautiful waterfall in our apartment. The week before this, a maintenance man with the complex came to check on the water heaters, fifteen minutes latter the hall was soaked. Three days went by with me complaining to come and fix it. It got fixed within five days. Same week the molded ceilings were fixed. They had never put a drain in my bathtub nor fixed the peeling paint stopping it up. Redcross put us up for the night in a hotel after the fire.
Cedarbrook offered to move us to a "sister" apartment complex which also would be more rent money but after all this I would not rent from any of Engel's Properties. They would not give me back my "remodeling" fee even though the apartment was wrecked. What the heck would my $200.00 do' I am sure they have insurance to "remodel". Also the pet "fee", in which we didn't live there but four months (which we didn't finish the lease term to no fault of ours).
The grounds were kept badly and our alleyway it was not lighted, and sometimes scary to walk through. The walls are like paper.
They replaced the manager a month before we left, he was very helpful.
I am happier b/c now I am in a nicer place.
