Horrific Nightmare in Disguise

I moved to these apartments Nov of 2006, I love small communities and the grounds were beautiful. I was shown a model apartment, and then came in to sign my lease and they let me do a walk through while it was still being renovated from the last tenant (so you cant see all the flaws with workers everywhere) I came back the next night to do a real walk through alone and I was astonished at what I saw. There seemed to be black mold all on the base of the tub and surrounding area, the baseboards of the cabinets in the kitchen were half ripped off and covered with pieces of that fake wood in big chunks held together with big nails that stick out like an eye sore, my stove wasn't in working condition, all blinds were dirty, old, broken & my closet door wouldnt close right...just to name a few, I had about 2 pages of stuff. It is now April of 08' and the only thing on that list that was ever fixed is my stove, but the overhead fan still hasnt been replaced. It took me 3 months to get new blinds, but just on the door to the porch. I had to ask for months for weather stripping to be replaced and when they replaced it they left all the old stripping all over my back porch for me to clean up (and I still have cold drafts coming through everywhere & my power bill shot up to $104.00!). My back door wouldnt open and it took them 3 trips out to finally be willing to replace my door knob and then it still doesnt shut correctly. Parking is horrible, you pay good money and cant even park at the building you live at, and with a small child its a hassle when you have groceries..etc. Lighting in the apartments isn't good enough, it is very dark in a lot of places, even though I have never felt unsafe, it's still not good and should be fixed, but they wont do it. Then the worst came about 4 mnths ago when as I was cooking dinner with a friend a big mouse or small rat came scurrying across the counters and into the unprepared food, of course I thought that to be an emergency considering they carry diseases of all kinds and I have a 5mnth old baby in the house. I got no response from maintenance that evening and the next day was assured that critter control would be contacted (they seemed concerned) then I was told that critter control was too expensive, so they proceeded to put store bought traps all over my apartment. (behind lamps in the living room, on each side of my couch, both sides of my refrigerator, countertops... everywhere I looked there was a trap!! and now I have a 9mnth old crawling baby boy! (not good) I finally caught one of the rodents (I was told maintenance would check the traps regularly so I wouldnt have to pick it up) that was never done. So I thought the worse was over when I continued to see rat or mouse feces all over my counters, all in my dishwasher (everyday) As of now I have seen 4 live and 2 dead rats\mice. I say rat because the rodent was three fingers wide and the length of the palm of my hand (not including the tail so its not your average field mouse)At this point I was infuriated, I have put up with enough. Thankfully all I did was let them know I was contacting a lawyer, the health department and Fox 6 on your side and they released me from my lease. The staff was always nice to me ( Brian is a sweetie but he isnt the boss and can only do so much as a leasing agent) but when stuff needed to be done that is when you get the attitude that you are inconveniencing them. It's a shame that they have let this complex go, I am glad I am leaving and I hope no one else stays here, it's not worth the money AT ALL! I am now paying about $30 more at my new place for about 450 more sq. feet. They have one of the best ratings on this site(Turtle Lake).

Rodent problems? I have never heard of such a problem at this community. Also, anytime I have ever had maintainence in my apartment, they have always solved whatever problems I have had and then the office staff called to follow up! Not to mention, everything in my apartment was brand new when I moved in so I dont see how your appliances were not working either. I believe you were the problem to begin with...you sound like a complainer anyways...have a great day!

I have lived at Eagle Ridge for 7 years. I have never had a rodent in my apartment. I have never heard of any of the other residents having a rodent either and I talk with my neighbors. It seems like people that have
rodent problems is because they are nasty...so maybe you were the problem.
About the office staff, they are wonderful! They are so nice and helpful. They actually take the time to talk to you.

I don't understand why you would stay somewhere for 4 years if you had all these issues... Makes absolutely no sense...
