Nice views, Not bad

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007

I moved in at the end of 2005 and moved out in June of 2007 because I bought a house. I loved my view. I had a big picture window facing East down the mountain, and you just can't beat the view. Every time I had people over they would always comment about the awesome view. And the private balcony gave a great place to just sit and enjoy the view.

The apartment itself was pretty dated, but I heard that they were updating apartments as people moved out, so my apartment is probably much nicer now. The fixtures were all really old, and the cabinetry in the kitchen and bath were not only old, but also in really bad shape. I asked when I moved in if I could restain them and was told I could not, even though it looked like at some point someone who had no idea what they were doing had attempted to restain them. The appliances were old (late 80's-early 90's), but worked. I once had the garbage disposal go out and it took them a couple weeks and three or four phone calls to fix it.

In general, I never had any bug problems. One time in two years my cat got fleas, which I assume came in from someone else's apartment since my cat never went outdoors. I treated my cat and called Maintenance and they were out to spray my apartment the next day, which I thought was pretty impressive. I found a couple of dead cockroaches, but you can't really live in an apartment complex in the South and not expect the occasional dead cockroach.

When I first moved in, one of the managers told me that they would actually feed my cat for me if I had to be out of town. This was a huge selling point for me since I knew my job would require quite a bit of travel. The first time I was away for a week, they took care of my cat really well. But the next time I asked them to do it, I came home and my poor cat hadn't eaten all week and had no water. When I asked them about it, the lady apologized profusely saying she "just forgot", but I never had them watch out for my cat again.

I was allowed to chose what color I wanted the walls painted before I moved in, which I liked. And when I moved out, I received my entire security deposit even though I really didn't do any more cleanup than vacuuming and surface cleaning everything. And that was with a cat living there (there was a non-refundable deposit to bring the cat in the first place which I assume goes towards steam cleaning, etc.). I have lived in other places that try to claim extra expenses for cleaning because of the cat just because they can.

The neighbors were generally friendly, although I did have an altercation with a neighbor who hit my car in the parking lot and then refused to take responsibility for it. The noise was typical of an apartment complex. Occasionally things would get loud and a call to the night super tended to help.

All in all, I was glad to move out of the apartments and have my own house, but I would say Eagle Ridge was just about the same or a little better than any other apartment complex in the area. The grounds are much nicer than other complexes, and the fact that it is located in a nicer part of the area keeps things pretty safe. I never had any safety problems, and always felt very safe. uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax
