Just was not what I was hoping it would be.

Nice location and view. But I'm not sure I would really call it the best place for your money.
I moved there for the security of the building and the nice view of the city.
All in all it just did not stack up for me. I left when my lease was up and did not look back. Considering the fact that they never fixed the security in the building I did not want to pay the extra for something I was not really getting. I was warned by a resident on the 12th floor that I saw while visiting a friend there after moving to shut the door at night.
I showed him it was not even working, he then told me he had just moved there and had been robed right after moving in! Said he got cleaned out and that management had told him the doors would be working. Most people living there seemed nice. A few were a little odd, one strange man who hung out in the mail room a lot made me feel a bit on edge. He seemed mentally challenged and would ask me odd things like when I was born or where I was from. Only to re-ask me over again like I had not said a thing.. One time I went to get my mail after work and he made a hissing sound at me like an animal.
I really have no idea what was going on with him but I just left him alone and would avoid him if he started at me. Never really felt he was going to hurt me, just freaked me out. One of the other residents told me to just let it go, that he had never done anything.
Everyone else seems nice. I was a bit confused as to why the management never caught on to the people living there with dogs.
The rooms are nice but the kitchens are very small. Good bit of room for storage though. I did have problems with my toilet not ever flushing right. I was told there was nothing wrong with it but it would take 30min just to fill up after each flush.
Not really a fan of the carpet, used to having hardwood floors.
Over all the main reason I moved was I found a place a little bigger with hardwood floors I wanted and a full kitchen with everything in the place newly replaced for 130$ less then what I was paying just a 5 min walk away from there.
Mind you it was not just that, after calling around I found lots of places that were considerably cheaper and bigger. I was very close to moving smack in the middle of 5points at one place that was like a carbon copy of highland towers but was also a good 200$ cheaper.. only reason I passed on them was I liked the hardwood floors better in the other place.
If I had to give highland towers any advice it would be to consider hardwood floors and a better security system. I would have stayed even at the higher rent for that.
