I have been so happy with my apartment here. I moved in because I wanted a reasonably priced apartment with some character in a great area of town, but mostly because I wanted to feel like the management understood how you reap what you sow when it comes to service, and I haven't been disappointed once. My apartment is adorable - lovely hardwoods, a remodeled kitchen and bath, gorgeous baseboards (original, I think), and a good layout for a small place. Anytime I've had a problem (which you're bound to have in an older building) the management has gotten maintenance out much quicker than I would have expected, and when I call, they actually know who I am. The minor inconveniences: windows are old and drafty, storage space is small (but more than I expected for the sq ft), and it seems to take a long time to get hot water. No biggie - this has been one of my favorite places to live by far. If you're tired of the cookie cutter 'burbs and staff who not only don't know your name but couldn't care less, call the Highlands.
