I recently renewed my lease at Lakeshore Ridge for 12 months and I plan on staying even longer. I do agree with some of the things that people have posted - such as the maintenance request process. It is a little inconvenient that I have to fill out a form every time I have a request. However, management explained to me that Alabama law changed and it was required now and the nice lady in the office gave me a few work orders to take home with me so I could fill one out whenever needed and drop it in the drop box. The dog poop issue used to be a problem around my building but it has gotten better. I see the maintenance guy walking the grounds daily and doing the best he can to help out with that problem. I also agree with what was said about maintenance - any issue that I've had has been taken care of in a timely manner. The maintenance guy came in to check my hot water heater and while he was in there he replaced the bulbs in my kitchen because he noticed it was flickering. I was surprised when I got home and read the note that he had left me explaining that he'd fixed my hot water AND the light - it was unexpected yet thoughtful! I lived in two different apartment complexes in Atlanta and then I relocated here to Birmingham. This experience is by far the better of the three. I hear the people above me sometimes, yes. But I expected to. This isn't my first apartment experience and I knew it wouldn't be like living in a house in the middle of nowhere - I will hear my neighbors, there will be maintenance issues and there will be things that frustrate me but I would rather live at Lakeshore Ridge than anywhere else in Birmingham. Trust me, I looked at all of them.

I don't completely disagree with you. However, the poop problem has not gotten better in the complex as a whole. It has for sure gotten worse!!! There is poop everywhere! The some neighbors here just don't realize that some of us don't want to step in dog droppings. I can't even let my kids play outside here because of it. The maintenance guy is not picking up dog poop when he walks the property, he is picking up other pieces of trash. He told me so himself. Furthermore, the poor guy should NOT be expected to pick of that type of stuff. The management should be more staunch about inforcing the dog poop policy! I can't tell you how many times I went to the front office telling them about the problem. My conclusion, they just don't care.
Yes bhamgirl this is a great place to live compared to Atlanta. I have moved from Atlanta myself to Birmingham. However, this is one of the MOST expensive apartment complexes in Birmingham. It is not much cheaper that some fairly nice apartment complexes in ATL. That being said, is it too much to ask for the dog poop rule to be enforced? Furthermore, where is the running trail we were promised? Where is the car wash we were promised? Bhamgirl, the expensive rent you are paying is supposed to include those promised things. Obviously, the money is not going to those things I just mentioned. This IS one of the nicest apartment complexes in B'ham. However, with the lack of caring on the part of the management, this place will go down hill within the next 2-3 years.
