Average apartments and the other tenants were fine but JH Berry & Gilbert is the WORST! When I moved out of state after a year & 2 months there, they made me pay for an extra months rent because they claimed I'd never given written notice & therefore I hadnt given my notice before the 30 day timeframe stated in the lease (lies, I dropped it in their mail box myself)-threatened repeatedly that if I didnt pay they'd sic their lawyers on me. They kept my security deposit and never responded to my repeated demands (verbal AND written) for a receipt or breakdown of WHY they kept it. They are shady a-holes who will try to scam you & harrass you with BS notices & "memorandums."
I had a 1yr lease which went month-to-month after the first year. About a month before my year was up I received an envelope (stapled to the door frame which is standard practice there) containing a new lease agreement (for another full year) and some legal paperwork saying I HAD to sign it cuz the laws had changed. I looked it up and it was total bull. I continued to get similar threatening documents until I called up the office and cursed them out for trying to scam me. JH Berry & Gilbert cannot be trusted or relied upon.
