My husband and little girl moved here because of the location. Before signing a lease, we asked to see the apartment-and we were told it wasn't ready yet. We were in such a hurry to find a new place to live, we trusted them and signed without seeing our apartment. This turned out to be the worst decision we have ever made because when we did move it, it was obvious the apartment had never been worked on. There was mold at least half an inch thick on the inside of both toilets, mold around the windows, severe mold in one of the showers that a year later I am still battling, the other shower didn't work properly, cobwebs all over, and light bulbs missing out of the few overhead lights they have. The cabinets, range, and dishwasher were extremely dated (I found a sticker in the cabinets that says they were from 1984). Shortly after moving in, we discovered the sink in the "master bath" was also leaking and mold was beginning to grow under the cabinet and up the wall. It took maintenance over TWO months to fix the problem. We made several complaints to the office, and each time was told it would be fixed "that day." It never was. In the meantime, our refrigerator began to leak and got so bad that half the kitchen floor was constantly covered in a pool of water. And our hot water heater also went out. Again, maintenance took forever to fix these issues. We FINALLY had enough--we were VERY concerned for our health with all the mold--but more so for the health of our infant daughter. We put a call into Colonial Properties and made SEVERAL complaints-and everything was finally fixed within a week. On top of these issues, you hear EVERYTHING around you because the walls and ceiling are paper thin. Our daughter is constantly being woke up from her nap or at night because of upstairs neighbors. It sounds like a heard of elephants are trampling around and they're not doing anything but walking (we're on our second set of upstairs neighbors and have had the same problem with both). Our lease is FINALLY up at the end of this month. We cannot WAIT to get out of this nightmare!

Second hand smoke inhalation is a big issue in this community. Vents in the apartments circulate air in the buildings instead of letting it out in the open air. So when someone in your neighboring apartments is smoking in their bathroom, they are letting that smoke in your apartment too. So if you are pregnant or non-smoker or have respiratory problems, you should stay away from this community. I have repeatedly reported this to the apartment managers and all they can do is ask the people in the building not to smoke in their bathrooms. How far does that help?
