I couldn't believe it when I found this page on apartment ratings. I found people who have lived at The Overlook and feel my pain and frustration. My favorite heading that I saw and me and my husband wish we had seen before we moved into their apartments was "Overlook these apartments!!!). Oh God, help those who don't know about these apartments. Now our story goes something like this...
My husband and I were going to get married and were looking for a place to live and this was one that he really liked. What he liked most was the floor plan. They do have one of the nicest floor plans that we have seen, I'll give them that. This was our first place to live as a married couple and we WERE so excited. When we moved in in Nov. they gave us a sheet that we were to fill out with anything that we found wrong with the apartment and give it back to them and they would fix it for us. YEAH RIHGT!!!! My husband and I have had to go up to the office more times than we should have had to to complain about stuff not being done. And these peoples "24hrs emergency maintenance" is a JOKE! They never return calls or give messages. We've waited 1 1/2 weeks for them to fix our sink on the garbage disposal side that was backed up and it happened again and we waited 2wks then just decided to try and fix it ourselves, and it worked. They never came to fix it anyhow. We've called several times in those wks. asking why noone had come, and they'd just say "we'll send someone out today." BULL! Tub backs up, sinks back up, toilet even backed up for no reason so we thought. We live on the bottom and there is a sewage line down here on the back walkway. The night our toilet back up for no reason I opened the door to let the dog out and I smelt something not so pleasant. I went to get a flashlight and when I shone it out back there was raw sewage all over, and not just a little bit. My husband called the dreaded 24hr maintenance person and told her our problem and told her to call us back when she contacted the 24hr maintenance person on call. Never got a call back within 45min, so we called the police. They told us to take pictures and video if we could, and we did just that. It took 3 phone calls for the office to have someone come and spray it off and fix the line. I was sooooo mad! One day in May,we went up to the office to complain about stuff that we were SICK of not being fixed. The girl(manager) wrote out the list and we got her to sign it,date it, and give us a photocopy of it. Still not all of the stuff is fixed. What does it take'''''' These people also slap on extra $120 dollar late charges to our rent of it is payed a day after the 5th, according to the lease it's supposed to only be 10% of your rent, well we have a 1br 1ba and it isn't no $1,120/month rent I can tell you that! They've done it 2 times and the second time it was over $200! We've been here a year, we stuck out our lease, can't wait to get the crap out of here!!! These asses are set to make our life misserable I swear! I put out some garbage yesterday morning by the door and had to leave to go somewhere and had my hands full with a diaper bag, baby, and 2extra bags in my hand, so I couldn't grab the garbage. Well I had a letter on my door with a $50 charge for them having to take the gargage out and it said that I was breaking a violation. I've left a garbage bag out there before for like 3days and never had a letter. They have no problem giving people fees for stuff but can't even come in 1year to fix stuff.
