I lived here for a year (2006-2007) and would not recommend it to anyone. Maintenance never responds to anything & if they do, they just rig it up instead of fixing it properly. My A/C in my apartment broke twice this summer (in July) and I called the office 5 times throughout the day requesting maintenance. They assured me someone was coming to fix it, but nobody came for days.

I am a full time student and also had to file numerous noise complaints because I had to listen to the stereo in the apartment above me on it highest volume at all hours of the day and night. One property manager told me they were evicting the tenants, but when I went to follow up a few weeks later there was a new manager that said the previous manager just told me that so I would stop complaining and that the tenants were not being evicted. Everytime I went to the office for anything there were lines of people waiting to complain about different issues that hadn't been fixed. I personally reported issues in my apartment that didn't get fixed for over five months. Then they finally fixed some of it because it was time to renew my lease and they wanted me to stay.

I originally chose that apartment complex because it had nice features: two swimming pools and a 24-hour fitness center. However, the pools were closed more than they were open this summer. It was always some excuse, like someone stole the life preservers, the chemicals were off balance and once because there was supposedly a shooting or gun incident in the main pool area. The fitness center was never kept up. The lighting was out, the equipment was never in working order and for the last few months I was there, it was locked up with a chain. When I asked when they would reopen it, they couldn't give me an answer. They said people were going in that weren't suppose to be & were tearing things up (even though the lock on the door requires an entry code for access).

Moving on, each time I contacted the office about any issue I got completely different answers. If you don't get the answer you like today, just go ask again tomorrow. None of the office staff seems to know what is going on there. There is no consistency. There were 3 different property managers in the one year I lived there. And now that I have moved out, I am still waiting to have my security deposit refunded. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks and it has now been over 9 weeks. I keep calling the office and they just keep blaming the "home office" but refuse to give me a name or number to contact anyone there. No one seems to have the authority to give me an answer or reason why I haven't received the money (we are talking about $450).

One afternoon, a total stranger just walked into my apartment without knocking. The leasing office told her it was a vacant apartment and that they were going to rent it to her. My lease wasn't even up at the time! I told her to find somewhere else to live!!!

The parking lot lighting is often not working. The lights in the breezeways are often out and you have to report the safety issue to the office numerous times before they will fix it. The apartments have cheap, thin windows, so you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on outside (including gun shots on several occasions). Very poorly insulated. The grounds look nice & the landscaping crew is there every week, but that means nothing if the insides of the apartments are not maintained.

Find a nicer place to live. The Overlook is not worth the money and will cause you great misery...
