I have live at Oxmoor Ridge Apartment for over three years, beginning when I entered the master s program at Virginia College of Birmingham. Over the past two years I have unsuccessfully tried to get maintenance issues resolved at my apartment. Here is the list of issues:
In the month of December, I have noticed the light to our hallway is out, which is very dangerous for me since I am a single female who works 2 jobs (one of which is at night). I have reported over two years a large hole in my shower wall, from which water has seeped from the shower into the hole. I, in order to take a shower, must place a large trash bag over the hole. My top lock on my front door has not worked for over 6 months, which is again a dangerous situation for a single woman. I have contacted our manager as well as the maintenance hotline concerning each of these issues, but currently all repairs remain unresolved. I love the location of my residence, but I have struggled over the past years about getting even the smallest repairs done. It is very frustrating when your requests are overlooked. Due to the fact that every request I have made regarding these problems has apparently been dismissed by the property managers, I have also reported the same information to the Better Business Bureau, because I do not want another person to suffer the same unacceptable living conditions as I have endured. Currently, I am in the process of moving, because I ended my lease effective, March 30, 2007. I have attached some pictures of my current living conditions. I am very upset that I am paying $485 monthly, and with rent increasing every year, not one repair has been done. Since reporting these issues to company, on February 7, 2007, they have not made an effort to correct any of these problems.
