I?ve lived here for 2 years now, and my feelings about this apartment complex are mixed.



On the one hand, it?s close to UAB and it?s in a lovely neighborhood. Great area to walk, have coffee, etc. The apartments do have some charm...decent hardwood floors, decent layout. It?s fairly quiet here, and I feel pretty safe as a woman living alone (except that the front door is continuously propped open by an inconsiderate neighbor and our mailboxes are completely open to the public). No W/D hookups, but the laundry rooms are usually available and well-maintained (plus, change machines are stocked). Also, the grounds are pretty and fairly well-kept.



On the other hand, the management is terrible here! I can?t blame the maintenance guy for his delays (I once waited a whole month for him to respond to a caved-in bathroom ceiling)...he?s the only guy for this huge complex and at least one other property. Once he gets to you, he?s really nice and handy. But, good luck lighting a fire under the leasing and office staff. They?re not very personable once they?ve sold you the apartment.



Rent here is extremely high! One nice feature is that you can pay one lump sum and don?t have to worry about electric and gas bills. But at 720-ish for a SMALL one-bedroom, I?m questioning whether the location is THAT worth it. Also, the kitchens are really, really tiny and old (practically NO freezer in the old fridge). Plus, there is minimal storage room.



So, you have to get pretty creative to make this place your own and you have to sacrifice a lot of modern amenities. If location is important and you don?t mind paying an arm-and-a-leg, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I?m sure there are better options out there. Good luck!
