Slum Lords in a nice neighborhood.

This place is in a great location, the neighborhood is beautiful, and it is within walking distance of shopping and eating. But the apartments themselves are a wreck. The kitchen in my apartment literally has about 3 square feet of counter space. The appliances and fixtures have not been updated in forty years. Some of the ovens are totally useless, they are barely functional for cooking. The bathrooms have not been updated in forty years either, all you get is a medicine cabinet, no shelves, no other storeage space. On the plus side the old toilets, while totally inefficient, are near impossible to clog since they are so big. Window unit A/C is not the best in the world, but I am willing to let that slide since these places are so old. Buy one of those little washer/dryer combinations if you live here.

I think it is not unreasonable to ask them to update the apartments, at least a little. A few of the kitchens have been partially remodeled, so if you get one of those units count your blessings. But they need to update all apartments in this complex. These people think they can be slum lords since the area is so desirable. It is a real shame because these apartment could be premium units, luckily I am on a short lease here so I get to leave, but I can't imagine spending years in this place.

I have had an apartment here for 5 years now. The kitchen in my apartment is small but I knew that before I moved in. I have purchased a butcher block cart. It adds counter space and looks really nice in the kitchen. I did get a new fridge when I asked for one. The stove has never given me any trouble but I bet they would replace that for you too if you asked.
