Owner, management, maintenance shockingly negligent

I lived at Redmont under the ownership of several entities of various levels of integrity. When I moved in 2008 I had endured many episodes of drama from the owner of the last seven years. There are many structural problems and it's obvious to any potential renter that there aren't any modern conveniences. The neighborhood is gorgeous and so conveniently located that it seems worth the sacrifices to live there. Beyond the surface, however, discomfort is deep. When issues arise the owner and maintenance expend more energy avoiding repair or correction than it would take to ameliorate the problem, resulting in frustration and drama that can extend for days, weeks, or months. One example of an easily correctable problem is that the radiators don't come on sometimes even when the outside temperature is in the thirties because the owner sets the thermostat very low to save money on gas. Tenants can complain of cold apartments constantly but it falls on deaf ears. When I bought new dining room furniture I came home from work to find it "raining" in my dining room. It rained every day that week and nothing was done even though I called every day. I asked to speak to the owner and he did not respond until I finally lost control of my emotions on a Friday night. The maintenance man told the owner that he had cleaned out the gutters, but the owner came out and found the gutters full of leaves. He cleaned the gutters and the problem was solved. Another issue which was never ending was the bathroom above mine leaking in small, medium, and large quantities to the point where the ceiling and walls melted away. Maintenance would say they had repaired the problem over and over, but when I moved out the walls were still coming down. Then there was my birthday when I came home and found my kitchen sink overflowing from the apartment above. I got no response from the owner/maintenance and I had to call Roto-rooter. They cleaned out all the drains mechanically (maintenance would just use liquids) and solved the problem and I must say that I was reimbursed. I could add many more examples. I lived there 17 years, the last 7 were under the "slum lord" and I had reasons for staying that were personal, however, I tried to make the best of it and to treat them with the respect I hoped that they would return. It's a terminal problem. I don't recommend Redmont.
