no place is perfect but there's a lot to be desired once you've settled in and lived here for a few months. it's one of the lowest rates on 280 with decent square footage and basically well-kept grounds, and with a "special" they were running i signed up for 7 months. upon moving in, the only staff member i had contact with was great, and so was the apartment which had new carpet and fresh paint. but eventually the tub faucets started leaking, the pipes under the kitchen sink came loose, the dryer started overheating the wall behind it, which on the other side sits the thermostat and smoke detector, causing the air conditioner to run constantly when the dryer is on, and triggering the smoke detector once the wall has heated up. there's also a weird knocking sound in the walls, most likely from pipes banging, that they say can't be fixed, and i suspect this is a repair so extensive that whoever owns the place simply doesn't want to pay for it, and not that the leasing office or the maintenance folks are being negligent. i never personally witnessed any drug dealing or criminal activity, but the parking lot can get filled up sometimes, leaving me with an undesirable, far away parking spot should i get home after 10 pm, and occasionally carpoolers come to pick up tenants and simply sit in their car beeping the horn as early as 5:30 am. as for pest control - i learned what centipedes are from living here. but they do come spray if you call in and request it. normally maintenance requests are quickly answered within 1-3 days, but the problem won't likely be thoroughly repaired on the first visit, at least that has been my experience. the dishwasher is extremely noisy, as all the kitchen appliances are well-used and outdated. the kitchen is my least favorite detail about my apartment as i have minimal cabinet space and no retractable sprayer at the sink. one other thing to mention, i've bought things off the internet and when my packages arrived, the packages that had to be picked up at the leasing office would always have the tape partially removed and sometimes they were completely opened and haphazardly resealed, indicating someone breaking into them for a peek. i've stopped having anything valuable mailed to me at this address for fear of it being stolen. my lease ends soon and i'm hoping everything goes well with my deposits being refunded after reading other people's stories about that. we recently got a letter from the manager expressing that they're trying to clean up some of the problems like parking and key/lock management, so they are working on some issues. but other issues like age and condition of the buildings and the majority tenant "type" being the kind of person who doesn't mind all these inconveniences, well those things probably won't change anytime soon.
