ok if you want the truth...look next door to Colonial Gardens and you will see how bad this place is. The place is falling apart. The air conditioning units are 15 years ols and don't work they have to keep recharging them just to get by. The pool is trashed and never is clean. The weight room smells like old dead men. The apartments are never kept up and the carpets are old. the lights are burnt out so if your a female then you are never safe at night. Ohh ya, the doors are never locked to the weight room so don't go after dark if you want to be safe. Like I said look next door and compare and you will see you will not get your moneys worth living here and never feel safe.

I see that you lived here from 2006-2007 and I am happy to tell you that a lot has changed in 2 years! New staff makes a world of difference! I'm not really sure which community you are comparing us to as there is not a Colonial Gardens in Birmingham that I am aware of but I would certainly love to invite you to come take a tour of our community to see just how different it is from when you lived here. We'd love the opportunity to change your mind about us! Summerchase was built in 1989 so of course some of the air conditioning units are older, but if our talented maintenance team is not able to fix them then we certainly have new ones installed. Our pool is always a hot spot for our residents and their friends and we get compliments all the time about how pretty the pool area is! In fact our pool is officially open for the Summer as of today. The carpet and equipment in the fitness center is just a little over 1 year old, there is also a locked entry door that only residents are given the code to. We replace lights around the community and on the buildings as they go out and as they are reported. Again, I invite you to come take a tour to see how things have changed in 2 years and I think you'll see that we do take care of our homes and are always trying to improve our customer service and our community. We also welcome any comments so that we may be constantly striving to be better so feel free to call me personally (Community Manager ---------------- so we can discuss any further issues that you may have had so we do not run into those in the future!

The person obviously meant Riverchase Gardens, and is absolutely correct. Summerchase was a truly awful place to live, and the people in their office that I tried to work with would not listen to anything. And just because the reviewer called RG by the wrong name doesn't mean they don't know exactly what they're talking about. The only reason to have lived there is because it was more competitive on price(not the case the last year I lived there). It has had one "community manager" after another, all but one that I tried to work with even bothered to help me with anything. The lighting was a problem when I was there, some of the lights were obstructed by trees, the lights around their own office near the dumpster were out for at least a year. There was rotting wood, plenty of insects were living there rent-free, some people had mold, and talking to my neighbors they had a lot of the same problems I did, so it wasn't an isolated case. The remodeling was years overdue. While I hope they improve over my experience, it was not good when I lived there.

I can tell you if your talking about colonal grand at riverchase. you better think again. just becoz it looks nice on the outside doesn't always mean it nice on the outside. I have lived there almost two years and am moving out, we pay a little over 1000.00 for our apt. and let me tell you the roof has leaked for 10 months now and everytime we call they tell us they will get somebody out there I never see anybody, then we are told the roofers were called back out and again I have yet to see the roofers and nobody has come in to do anything about the mold or the water stains on the walls that are in the livingroom. then the gates havent worked in 3 months but they are working so hard on that is what we are told, our A/c has not worked correctly for 3 months so after the power bill has doubled yes they took some off the rent to cover that but still nothing has been down about the water stains now that are in the hallway from that AC leaking and nothing was done about my $60 water bill since I had to wash towels after I had buckets and towels in the hallway for two days while I waited on the maintance people to show up and fix the leaking Ac.... the stairs were falling apart and after complaining about that for two months they finally fixed them. the management team is a joke they love to tell you they are on it but Im not sure what they are on becoz they take there sweet time getting everything fixed, so just becoz a place looks "put together" doesnt always mean it is, so you may want to re-think that place.... We have been though summerchase a couple of times and have talked with people that live there they all have good things to say....
