After 22 years in a house, this apartment has been a nice change. I have had no problems with the complex nor the management team. In fact, they have always been helpful to me - to include night checks for an air conditioning problem to helping me place a rug in the living room. I feel I can talk to Katy and JP about anything and find them responsive and interested in knowing I am happy and satisfied with my apartment experience. As mentioned, I left my home of 22 years and was really scared about living in apartments. Afterall you hear of thefts, rapes and even murders. And quite often we renters don't hear of the problems until the lease is signed. Here there is, for me, a feeling of safety and tranquility. Another rater posted that there is only one entrance - this is true and it means if you don't live here, there is no reason to drive through. No through traffic, no loitering in the parking lot and no unsupervised kids out after dark. People are friendly - at least I have found them so. The place is pet friendly, with great, great sunrooms and a place where my apartment has become my home. I hope to move to a 2BR/2BATH when my lease is up just to have a fireplace and that second bath for when my daughter comes to visit; I plan to stay here as long as they will let me. If anyone if contemplating a move to this area, give Summerchase a chance! I think anyone would love it here.

Curious, what is your current complex? I am sorry that your experience was not positive; all I can speak to is my time here.

I lived there and did not experience this great time you had. It was extremely dark, there were lights that were obscured by trees & would go off for long periods of time - one of my single female neighbors had someone standing outside her window in the middle of the night, not exactly inspiring confidence in safety. The office had their night drop box broken into, all of the cash and checks stolen. There's where your rent is going, to whoever can break in. The buidlings should have been remodeled years ago, and the remodeling experience was lousy, construction people hooking up their equipment to electricity you're paying for. You haven't heard of any negative things like break-ins (including of their own drop box) because JP & the property manager have no reason to tell you. In 2009 for an apartment complex that raised its rates to not have a gate is a little strange. Anyone can drive in at any time. My current complex cannot even be walked into without climbing a fence, can't be driven into without a key fob and has a police officer on site. Doubtful that will ever happen at Summerchase, but they sure had no problem raising my rent for an apartment with what had to be carpet from when it was built in '91. They renovated other apartments but left their existing residents with the cold shoulder and a fat increase in rent. I would not recommend this complex to anyone. I had leaks, infestations (they didn't use an exterminator in my building, ever), and my neighbors had mold. At any time they could have taken the time to talk to me & resolve my problems, but they were interested only in the check. That is all they care about, and this company has no business being in property management.
