I've just read the reveiw board for my complex and I'm surprised at how ill mannered and aggressive some of the comments were, hardly any of the good reflections I've had the fortune to experience. I'm an Army verteran, my husband is currently National Gaurd. I've notice a good number of people on our complex are from the milatary, we even have hoover police living in this complex! So in the light of living here for six months I've decided a good reveiw is required.
Amy McGill and Gelene Luckenbaugh helped smooth the transition from Army housing overseas to Birmingham/Hoover area considerably. They prepared and set up our apartment before we arrived. When the casement underneath the floor had a settling problem and leaked with rainwater they secured maintence personal to look after the issue promptly, when even the drying and cleansing of the floor did not help they secured us another apartment of the same type. Their professional manner and patient attitudes when we were frustrated were well worth moving to this complex.
The grounds maintence personnal are dutiful, timely, through, and constantly working. I have never seen anyone not fully employed, handling the business of the day in a proper manner! I walk the ground often with my child and love the playgrounds and the landscaping! No other apartment complex boasts such a varity and good sound barrier as ours! I cannot tell we live in the heart of Hoover, literally a mile from the galleria! I can walk to the supermarket and the peditatrics office safely! All my neighbors like the complex. Our amenities are far above the price tag, our area is lovely. All the local complexes do not offer such a clean and relaxed environment for the same amount, the few I've seen that are clean and tidy cost a good deal more!
The seriously disgruntled, unhappy, and angry say our trash is horrible. I used to work for waste management, I've seen trash in Iraq, a slightly overflowing dumpster once a month for a day or two is relativly common place, compactors cost thousends of dollers to install and pick up on a timely basis, one compactor is well within regulation and of a decent size for the number of residents. Keep in mind everywhere you go trash is an issue, notice that the trash might not always be picked up on time by the Government/State/County for multiple reasons, low staff, holidays, etc., I've found that the trash is only occassionally an issue and I drop off my trash twice a week. Twice in six months it's been kinda bad and that was due to holidays.
Overall, I'd like to list the reasons I find my complex a pleasure and joy to reside in and hope that anyone who reads this will not overlook that I've lived overseas in Europe, and multiple places throughout the states (burbank/L..A. ca, New Orleans la, New Jersey, New York City, Maine, Palm Beach, Tamapa, the list is extensive.)
1. Good management; polite in manner, deference, attitude, helpful, informative.
2. Residents; kindly neighbors who you can resolve issues with, good family atmosphere, polite children.
3. Location/Landscaping; extensive detailed beautiful grounds that are a joy, more like a park then a complex, plenty of room and lovely layout of the buildings.
4. Timely service/Work eithic; maintance personnal are fantastic, always have good demeanor, attitude, replace anything not working as soon as possible.
5. Good price for the local costs of rent and housing vs. other complexes in the area, practical, effective, nicer then others.
