Come on, it's an apartment!!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I moved in here sight unseen from 1000 miles away, and the office staff was particularly helpful in getting me set up. The grounds are nice (sure, dogs use the bathroom and aren't always picked up after), the pools and exercise areas are good for the rent, and it's safe enough for single women to walk around anytime.
The PROS: find a place at 700 or less that has W/D hookups and then complain; VERY quiet (hardly know I have neighbors); parking is fine; I see maintenance everywhere, so they're out there; no crime (and I chain bikes outside!); great-looking apartments on the inside.
The CONS: don't walk in the grass (easy enough to deal with); the gate is broken 50% of the time (although what good is it anyway'); closets are good sized, but there isn't really storage for extra stuff unless you want to pay another $75; neighbors aren't that friendly--mostly keep to themselves, which is fine; there are bugs that wander in (not to mention toads...weird), but I remember that it's Alabama, and we have bugs everywhere, even 'perfect' homes.
I live in the 2ND phase apartments, which I believe are better built apartments. I'm wondering if the bad reviews come from phase 1...
Overall, this is one of the best apartment complexes in the city. If you want perfect, BUILD YOUR OWN HOUSE and quit complaining---you live in an apartment!!
