Quality going downhill fast - Crime rate going up just as quick

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I have lived at WildWood Crossings for almost 2 years now. My first year was in a studio apartment and that wasn't a great experience. There were roaches in my apartment almost every week although maintenance claims to run pest control outside. One of my neighbors constantly left food on the sidewalk and it never was swept up by the grounds crew.
I moved into a larger apartment last year. The carpets had been cleaned but the apartment was shut tight and the air turned on cool which left a mildew stench in the apartment for weeks. Due to the moisture the bathroom ceiling was covered in black mold the day we moved in. Maintenance came and threw some bleach or other cleaner on it but never repainted. But aside from the cosmetic and health hazards the worse part of living here is the increasing crime.
When we returned from a vacation there was a note on our door warning us that recent theft had been occurring in a number of ground floor apartments. And with a promise that police presence would increase. I saw only one police car drive through during the following months. The warning from the manager turned out to be valid. Our apartment window was broken and the screen removed. I credit maintenance for quickly fixing it. However, a few weeks later the same thing happened to our neighbor, same window, same kind of screen removed, same hole in the window. The neighbor's apartment was burglarized. So we had an attempted robbery that went all the way through at our neighbors.
Then there are other neighbors that are constantly yelling at their children, at each other, on the phone. It doesn't help that the wall are paper thin. One night it escalated into a fight taking place in the hall outside our apartment. All kinds of cursing and pushing each other around. My call to 911 sent police over about 10 minutes later. But the whole night I spent in my apartment scared that something else would happen, maybe the next time more violent among this family.
For an over $900 monthly rental fee this apartment is not worth it. The managers do not listen to our complaints that we do not feel safe. If you decide live here invest in some sort of security system and request an apartment on an upper level, even though it is a slight inconvenience.
