Price was fine. nice 2nd level 1BR 1BA < $600
2nd floor, corner.
Front office people are o.k. I see what appear to be fake smiles though.
We were told there was new carpet in here which was a lie. Upon closer inspection the carpet had a few stains, furniture dents and was COVERED with long, black hair. The employee denied ever saying the carpet was new. They did come and shampoo the carpets which made them look better but it seemed they didn't vaccuum first. what the hel*! Who doesnt know to vaccuum first. when we moved in we had cleaner looking wet carpet still covered in long black hair. A simple vaccuuming with a $60 vaccuum cleaned it right up along with what seemed to be about 2lbs. of sand/dirt.
The apartment layout is perfect for us. Nice refridgerator, stove (not new but works great) and a dishwasher that kicks butt but evacuates water overflow from a release located by the sink which sometimes leades to water on the counters and floors because I think it's missing a nozzle.
Bathroom needed help. Very nice bathtup and shower pressure is awesome but the sink leaked and has been replaced with a new one and the toilet was filthy (on the inside) and does not flush well. We have been told a new toilet has been ordered.
The bedroom is very nice with a great, spacious walk in closet with a rod and shelves on both sides to hang/sort clothing. There is a sliding door that leads to the patio.
The patio is nice and has a storage closet great for storing tools, bikes, etc.
The living room is perfect for us. We have a large entertainment center, large leather couch, chair and ottoman AND a medium sized computer center arranged nicely. The fireplace is lovely and outlined in tile and wood molding including tile at the base. A door at the rear of the livingroom leads to the patio.
The surroundings: (and not to offend anyone but I think it's common among anyone who is moving to want to know what the "area" is like) In this area, which is the outskirts of Birmingham right next to Hoover you will find a melting pot of ethnicities. There seems to be a near equal number of ------, whites, and ---------. I have not had any negative encounters to really worry about. But, this is what I have seen in the first 30 days of living here:
complex grounds including parking lot:
busted car to decent/nice car ratio - 1/10
loitering - very rarely
"booming cars" - rarely
trash - minimal
landscape - attractive
common resident profile - fair to well spoken, respectable appearance, some friendly hellos. mixed of black, white, hispanic, other
children - not very many
Nice little workout room which has various machines and cardio equipment.
Washroom could use some upkeep and a machine or two could use service.
VERY NICE TENNIS COURTS(2)
VERY NICE POOL(1)-large
Within a 3 mile radius:
Wal-Mart, Sam's, Strip Malls, Galleria, Many Grocery Stores, Few Bars, 2 movie theaters (including a "dollar show" which is very nice and clean outside). Clean roads and highways. Traffic is minimal with a slight increase during 8-9AM and 4-6PM M-F. Certainly nothing unbearable.
Crime: Since living here I have seen two arrests, both black males, young, in the parking lot of the apartments. Arrests were fast and without incident.
Bums, Homeless people, Drifters, Panhandlers: I have been approched by one middle aged black male in front of a fast food place to buy a necklace and earring set "worth $150" for only $15.00. I told him no thank you and he walked away. In a bathroom of a gas station a middleaged white male asked me for gas money. I told him I need my own money and he walked away.
Overall, I like this apartment and this area. I find people oeverall to be friendly, educated, and considerate.
Law enforcement appears adequate and is present when you tour the city.
Overall, my atmosphere has been a quiet one. No loud neighbors, and only a few times I've heard loud talking, yealling, horseplay from the parking lot below.
Service from the office has been reasonably prompt.
Pretty nice place to get your life started.

THANK YOU, so much for the review. I wish others would give vivid detail and important info like that. So that others can be aware if there are not from the area.

Why is -------- censored? I'm willing to bet that was the word, as this poster doesn't seem to be the type to call names.
