Please, do not let the model apartments fool you. Your apartment will not look like this. I would like to echo the infestation problem. Also, I had a large (3 feet x 2 feet) hole and smaller hole hidden behind my fridge...rats came in. My fridge was broken, they wouldn't replace. Water would leak in it and cause mold. I could not do any two water activities at the same time (i.e, wash dishes in the sink and shower, wash clothes and shower) I moved out before my lease was up b/c they were unwilling to accomodate me and an extreme situation. I don't blame them for the situation that caused me to move, but management as a whole (all of the complexes owned by them: Wood Gardens, Wood Springs, The Bluffs at Riverview) was extremely rude. However, my lease ended 10/31 and I still haven't seen my deposit back. They are fine for the price, but you should really want more...

ALABAMA STATE LAW:
Ask the landlord about your security deposit and leave a
forwarding address. He has 35 days after the end of
the lease to refund the deposit to you. You forfeit (or
give up) your security deposit if you don't cash the check within 180 days.
IF THEY DID NOT GIVE THE DEPOSIT BACK, I WOULD PURSUE LEGAL ACTION.
PLEASE REVIEW THE ALABAMA TENANT'S HANDBOOK:

I AM TIRED OF LIVING PLACES THAT DO NOT ABIDE BY STATE LAWS! I plan to move after this next lease is up. I have signed 2 more leases since I have been there and water has gone up quite a bit every time (second lease went from $710 to $785 and with new lease for Jan 2009 now I pay $824)since being there supposedly. We will move when this lease is up because we have money to move now!! We only signed a 7 month lease term this time even if it when up to the $824.00, but from what I understood it was going to that price anyways for guess what??? water! I can't understand with the economy so bad why are they making it harder on tenants that pay every month on time? I have made other post on this site. Our apartment was broken into with someone with a key (maintenance or office?) who took some dvd's. I did not realize this at first but the cases would still be there but no dvd inside. My husband and I are super picky about dvd's returning to their cases. Over the last couple of years, maintenance would only come to take my stuff instead of when there was an emergency to fix. LATELY WITH NEW MANAGMENT IT SEEMS A LITTLE BETTER IN THEIR DEFENSE.
