Parking- Good luck finding a spot by your building after dark. Apparently this place attracts tenants who failed the parking portion of their driver's test and park either on the line or diagonally in a straight spot, and they're not narrow by any means. Also there were always cars that just sat untouched for months, covered up or sitting on jacks, even ticketing didn't help.
Noise- There is absolutely no soundproofing here, so you get to hear everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that the neighbors above you do. Also as someone else mentioned, kids run wildly here. Our apartment faced the woods which seemed to be the perfect spot for everyone to cut through at all hours. It got to the point where I could not open my windows or even the blinds to let light in because there were so many people walking right by and they would peep in the whole time they were walking by! One night we heard talking outside our bedroom window so my boyfriend went outside to look, and a group of teenage boys were just hanging out. They ran off so who knows what they were up to.
Grounds- They try to keep a good facade but the tenants don't seem to care so the management gives up too. I know they went through several grounds crews in our year there and I can see why. Someone on the third floor of our building repeatedly threw garbage off of the breezeway and one day we witnessed a bag of soiled diapers come crashing right in front of our patio. Finally after writing a letter threatening to call the department of health, the manager sent out a generic letter to our building stating that they would evict the person responsible if it kept up. Needless to say it didn't do much. I guess we should have known when we moved in seeing as there was still junk on the patio that they couldn't bother to take care of for us.
Maintenance- Did a decent job when they finally showed up, but that's a big when. It took several calls and going into to the office twice, almost a month after we moved in, for them to fix all the things we asked to have completed before move in, like the a/c constantly running. Not their bill, right?! The pool was always conveniently being maintained. I think we were able to use it twice in that whole year. I got up for work at 3 am and one morning walked into my entire bathroom floor covered in water. I could hear it running down the walls, saw it dripping from the ceiling above our laundry, and had soaked carpet in the second bedroom. I called the emergency number and left a message then, on my break at 8 am, left a message at the office answering machine, once more on the emergency number, and finally got to talk to someone in the afternoon to come out. I had already worked an 8 hour shift and they still hadn't bothered to show up by time I got home. My apartment had been flooding for who knows how long! They went upstairs to try and figure out where it was coming from and brought in an indsutrial dryer for my carpet and told me it would be taken care of upstairs, only to happen a few weeks later.
Staff- It's just one big revolving door, several managers in one year and they're always conveniently unavailable until you start making threats they can't ignore. Not only did they screw us out of our deposit return, they mailed it to our apartment there that we had vacated (DUH!) and charged us a stop payment fee claiming that we never gave them a forwarding address. We gave it to them twice but that's still too hard to keep straight I guess.
Moral of the story- turn around and run from any thoughts at even looking here!
