Management sucks!

Moved in in 2003 (had 13-mo. lease). Complained twice about several, as I thought then, "minor" problems (i.e. broken blinds, dents in the walls, etc.). When moved out cleaned the apartment until it would shine like new. In a couple of months after I moved out, received a bill for $27 for those "minor" things that they never replaced. I called the manager immediately to get it fixed and got a confirmation that it would be taken care of. It's 2006 and I received a letter from some credit agency the apartment complex used to collect the $27!!! (it's what, almost 2 years after I moved out'!!!)

If you would just pay for the damanges that you owe, there would be no reason to send you to a collection agency. You signed a move in inspection that listed all damages at the time of move in right? Well, why should the management have to pay for things that were not wrong when you moved in? If you own a home and the blinds were new when you moved in- would you replace them if you tore them up? Who would have to pay for that expense? If you destroy your carpet in a home- would you have to pay for the carpet to be cleaned? Think about these things when you are paying a small deposit at move in????

birminghamalabama and wareagle4000, thank you for your review. I do have a move-in report, which states damages to the blinds. I also kept the copies of all work orders in which it keeps the record of all repair work after I moved in. There are 5 of such work orders and none of them have any information about the blinds and some other minor damages were also not fixed (3 for the first month). Why? Because I got tired of calling the management and reminding them about all of the things they needed to fix. Wrong decision on my side: they charged me for what they never took care of in the first place. What else can I show to prove I'm right now?????????
