We rented a 2 bedroom 1 bath townhome for 2 adults and 2 children. Unlike some apartments, we had a small green back yard and a front courtyard. The grounds were great but very small and intimate. After the apartments in Center Point, this place seemed like heaven. A few months into our lease the caulking from the tub was coming loose because the tub faucet was leaking HOT water. We called maintenance and no one ever showed up. The Resident Manager and the Maintenance Man were married and lived directly across from us. They were having marital problems (including domestic disbutes). They were too busy handling their own affairs to deal with ours. We then noticed a water stain appear on the dining room ceiling which was located directly under the bathroom. Long story short, after numerous calls to maintenance and manager nothing was done. We broke our lease and moved. The apartment sued us (and won) complaining that we caused the leak and damage. I might add that by this time the resident manager and spouse abusing maintenance man were no longer employed there and could not be found to verify that we had reported the leak for months. I can understand being ordered to pay for rent lost for us breaking the lease. But the way I understand it, deposits are to be used for cleaning an apartment and repairing any damage. They claimed we trashed the place. All this after we complained about the new resident manager (who lived right next door) sunbathing outside in his thong speedo in front of our children. This was all years ago and new management is in charge so I hope the apartments are as nice as they were back then. I have considered moving back now that I am a widow.
