Great apartment at move in, but things have changed.
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/2/2002
Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
Upon arrival there was one to two maintenance people working, therefore it was understandable that some problems were slow to be fixed. Other than the head staff member, everyone was friendly and helpful. The head staff person did not wish to have our moving van parked on the premises overnight, but with some coaxing from the staff, she agreed to let it stay one night. Other than that, the first months went by without incident.
By the end of the summer, one of the pools had mold growing on the wall. After three days, I finally called to report it. The pool was closed for a few days until the mold cleared up, then it was reopened for a week before it was closed for the summer. That was upsetting because it was the end of August and I was told the pool would be open until October.
The winter went by with the pool acquiring leaves and debris in the bottom and eventually the water turned green. The pool was open in 2001 in May, in 2002 it is still not open (June). One pool was opened Memorial Day weekend, but that pool is not enough for the hundreds of people in the community. Also, the pool with all the debris from winter is still green and covered with debris at the bottom. I contemplated adding a no fishing sign to the pool closed sign, but thought better of it.
Recently, the apartment installed meters to monitor our water usage so when we sign a new lease we will now pay for water. On top of that, I rented the apartment under a special they had going at the time, when/if I renew my rent will be increased. That is understood, however I have very little time in which to tell them if I am going to renew the lease and everytime I call to ask what the rent will go up to they say they are getting it together.
I called in about a few aestetic repairs in February, they still have not been fixed (it is June). I also called about other items that were not aestetic repairs and it took them a month and a half to get to me.
We have roaches all summer. The man who sprays says that they are looking for moisture and will die in a few hours, but they are huge. Last winter we had a horrible ant problem in our bathroom. The bathroom walls are the middle most walls in the apartment and I can guarantee that I do not eat in the shower. So, when I complained because the ants were covering at the baseboards of two of the walls I was told by the head of the staff that everyone has ants and I should learn to live with it. In fact, she said that she lived in the complex and she had ants, too. However, a week later I saw her driving INTO work from somewhere outside the complex. I suspect she does not live here and just lied to my face.
All of the office staff has changed in the past year and they are much shorter than the other staff. I have asked a couple of questions when I called and they responded with, "Any more questions'" As if to tell me that asking two questions in one conversation were too many.
So, it was a wonderful place to live when we first moved in, but everything has gone downhill.
