I currently live at Riverchase Landing.
The pros:
They're HUGE. A 3bdrm/2 1/2 bath is 1900 sq feet.
They're located right in the middle of Hoover near to 459 and 65.
They're cheap considering the size and location
The cons:
They're very, very outdated and in desperate need of updating.
Some of the residents (and you can guess which ones) treat the place like crap. They let their kids trash the hallways, run up and down the hallways screaming and hollering.
They dont except packages at the office which means the screaming, un-parented kids are probably going to take whatever they find laying in the halls.

Right on! The kids are a real problem here. They're loud, walk around in the middle of the street and WILL NOT move for a car (and if you attempt to go around them, they yell at you, wtf!), and trash the place like nobody's business. Then there is that bulletin on safety that they sent around last year, in response to break-ins. And, more recently, the cops being called out for people pulling knives on each other in the street. Oh, and don't forget that the place has had three owners (and three names) in the four years that I've lived here, with little improvement in management or upkeep. The wiring is questionable also. We blow at least 6-8 light bulbs a month, in various parts of the apartment, and have had 3 microwaves burn out so far. Also, we can only put bulbs in certain sockets in the bathroom light (sockets 1, 2, 5, and 6...no more, no less, and definitely not the middle two), otherwise they all blow simultaneously when you turn the light on. Maintenance found nothing wrong with the electrical system...
We've decided that our next step will be a house, otherwise we'd be out of here in a heartbeat. Seriously, it's a dump. A great deal on the surface, but believe me, you DO NOT want to live here unless it's a last resort.

We are currently looking to move over there. How is the maintenance with repairs. Do they bill you for repairs that are normal issues? I also would like to know what is the average gas bill like in the 1900 sq ft. apt? And one last thing, how is the cable and internet thru DirectPath? I know the complex has a contract with them, so they are the only provider over there, which is unfair. But are the services okay?

Maintenance is pretty good, better than a lot of places. They don't charge unless you tear something up by vandelism or neglect. Gas is different depending on how much you use and how many people. I don't like the direct path deal much but everywhere you go every complex has a contract with a specific caable company. They are the biggest apartments in town and I love it.
