My mother refers to my apartment complex as "the Ghetto" in Hoover. Let me start of first with the beautiful model apartment that they show you. It is a crock and then they hurry for you to sign the lease, never do they do a walk through and tell you your apartment is ready. Well I walked in and my apartment looked nothing like the model. Oh well I can deal. August of 05 we had a lot of rain. My dining room flooded, so bad that it puddled and sloshed when you walked through it. I told maintenance they did not come out for 3 weeks. Needless to say, I got sick. I had to go to the E.R with three asthma attacks that month and could not figure out why. I started to investigate. The complex's idea of cleaning up the carpet was to take up the old pad, soak up the water, not clean the carpet and put the carpet back with no pad. I lifted up the carpet, black mold was all over the tack strips. Also there was a weird fungus growing out of my bedroom wall but they tried to tell that was not mold. WTF' Anyway, they came and replaced the tack strips whoo and put new padding and the same uncleaned carpet down.
The carpet has got to be the cheapest brand I have ever seen in my life. Now I have a 3 year old and she does spill a lot. But damn, you can't get anything out of that cheap ass carpet. The carpet is coming up at all the doorways. The paint is peeling in the kitchen. The toilets leak.
The past two summers I have had terrible problems with fruit flies. They come from out of the garbage disposale and I know other neighbors have the same problem. There are tons of cars there that are not ever driven that need to be towed and take up spaces for paying residents. I come home early in the a.m. because I am a night shift nurse. I never have a space available for me.
And this spring I got to battle a new disgutsing pest. Roaches. Everywhere. Now I have crumbs here and there to be honest but damn. This place is so disgusting and they never come spray. I feel like my home belongs to the roaches and not me. I signed a new lease because I had no choice and was running out of time to find a new place. But this place is unsanitary and unsafe. My airconditioner is like as old as the apartment and makes the loudest noise. My power bills are outrageous and I am on budget billing. I am sure that anyone from the management team would not want to even live here. This place should be condemned. I asked them if the new owners were planning on sprucing the place up a bit and they said they were going to put new siding on and pressure wash the sidewalks. OOOOHHHHHH! Hook em in and then bam put em in the shitter! This place is a slum!!! And I feel nasty living here. I am getting out as soon as possible.

I know how you feel we moved in two a two bedroom originally near the gate at rockyridge and it wasnt bad except the roaches and the big dip in the middle of the living room that you had to rearrange your furniture for. then my grandmother inlaw moved down from NY to live with us so we moved to a three bedroom. Well she has breathing problems and my son has asthma as well we ended up with two very sick people couldnt find out why she kept on going on the hospital. it was mold and i mean it was bad. my sons room leaked in at the concrete foundation it was cracked. my grandmother had to move out because of her health and the apts wouldnt do anything. finally i took them a letter from her dr and told them since she moved out they were moving us to a two bedroom again to get out of the mold mess. and the flies and fruit flies were rediculas. it was the biggest dump there ever was. we finally got out after living there for a year and a half. but the park at the galleria fooled us it isnt much better they have scorpions.
