Very Bad Management

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
My roommate and I moved out of our two bedroom cottage at Country Club to move to an apartment closer to work. My lease ends on the 30th of June, I know this because I had to pay for the entire month of June even though we had already moved out. On the 27th I dropped of my key at the office and they wanted to know where the other key was. I told them that my roommate had it, that she still had a few things she needed to get out of the apartment. They informed me that they needed the key right away and that they weren't going to call her, it was evidently my responsibility to collect their key. They were very rude about it. My roommate called the office and they informed her that since I had turned in my key that the lease was terminated. She was on the lease as an occupant, but not as a renter. They told her she had until the end of the day to get her stuff. I called them back myself and wanted to know how they could terminate a lease four days early. Four days that I had paid for. I was told "You'll have to talk to the manager." Again, very rude and very confrontational. I wanted to know if I was going to get four days worth of rent back since they terminated the lease early. Of course the answer was "see the manager." I don't see how they can terminate a lease early when I have already paid for the full month. Technically that apartment is mine until June 30th. So we had to make a quick trip and get the last of my roommates things. I informed them when I dropped the last key off that we had left a small box with some rubbish in it next to the kitchen. Just papers and misc. items, nothing major, but leaving it outside would cause it to blow around and then they would be mad at me about that. They informed that I should have put the box outside. This is peculiar to me in light of the fact that when I moved into my one bedroom apartment at Country Club the previous resident had left an old beat up couch in the living room. Evidently its ok to leave a huge couch but not a small box of trash that will take all of 5 seconds to carry outside to the garbage truck. We had at least 2 outlets in our apartment that never worked and the outlet in the bathroom would cause my roommates hair dryer to short out. She went through 3 hair dryers in a year because of that outlet. These apartments are old and getting run down after 40 years of being their. Instead of actually trying to work with the tenants the management is often confrontational and rude. I am glad to be out of that complex and I would strongly encourage others to avoid renting here. At least until they put some better management in place.
