We are living here due to a four month work assignment. We set up the lease online from Texas and the staff was great and responsive. We had no trouble getting an apartment reserved and since we've moved in, the staff has continued to be great. We've had 2 maintenance situations arise and both were fixed in less than 12 hours. The apartment was spotless when we moved in and the furniture seemed new. The building is old, however it's well maintained and virtually sound proof as we never hear our neighbors. The downside to living here is the surrounding neighborhood. We live off Executive Drive. This area seems unsafe as we've been panhandled in our complex parking lot and there are hookers nearby. The neighborhood is quiet, but I do not feel safe going outside by myself at night (I'm a female). On the news last night I saw where a guy was murdered in the next building over. This doesn't sit well with me considering we're living here with a baby. Not sure if we'll leave or stay at this point. It's too bad that the complex is located in the ghetto because it's actually not bad at all. I just worry about my car being broken into (although that's not happened to any cars nearby as far as I can tell), and I worry about some of the shady characters that walk around. The location to the UAH campus is outstanding and it's close to lots of fun things to do as well as shopping, but I do not recommend it for single females or people who will be returning home late from work at night. I will say that the buildings and parking lots are very well lit, but I still feel unsafe, especially after recent events.

I don't live at these apartments but I am considering it and when I called and asked management about the murder they said that it was a domestic dispute that got out of hand. If that happens to be the truth then it doesn't significantly change the safety of the apartments since that kind of incident can happen anywhere.

I spoke with the management about 3-4 weeks after the incident and they told me that the case had not been solved, but that the guy lived alone there and that it appears to be isolated. There have been no issues since and we did decide to finish out the remainder of our lease. I will say that police patrols have significantly increased and I stopped one of the officers and asked him about the area. He said that it is not the safest area, but that they continue to patrol. Both churches (one across the street and one next door) are either sold or in the process of being sold. One is becoming a homeless shelter. I stay home all day with our son and trust me, the people walking around the streets here are not the kind you want to invite over for dinner. I refuse to use either gas station at the bottom of the hill because it's just a little too unusual that all those people stand out there all day long. Hookers are very popular in this area. The apartment itself is nice, but I would not recommend it for a single female. Our friends who also lived here moved out and into another Sealy property in Huntsville which was SO MUCH NICER. It was more costly, but really nice. Next time we'll do that. We only have another month left on our lease so we're just staying. I do not ever go outside at night by myself and always keep the door locked when I'm home. The office staff is great, like I said in my initial post, and the complex would be fine if it were located in a different part of town.
