I moved here in the middle of March from Raleigh, NC. The 2 Br/1Ba apartments don't have as much closet space as I'd like (although the master bedroom has a walk in closet) but at 940 sf, it's quite roomy. The front room has a window that spans most of one wall and another smaller one opening on the dining room. The result during the daytime is a very light, airy feel.

Utilities for my first part month here (28 days) were $25 (power; water and garbage are included in the rent). Utilities later on have averaged closer to $80, although my last two months were $130 and $150 (I think due to the very hot summer). The grounds are clean and they have some nice flowers and flowering trees on the premises, as well as billiards tables in the clubhouse.

When I moved in, my apartment had been redone, and there was some evidence (incomplete mudding work, for example). Also, a number of power and cable outlets didn't (and don't) work. As one reviewer noted, there was not a walk-through sheet, and the manager didn't seem too pleased when I presented my own. She's a nice person, though, so I suspect she was busy. I also had a water heater element turn up bad on Friday after I moved in.

In the maintenance instances, they were quick to help, even calling the local plumber to fix my water heater on Saturday morning.

It's true that despite being a block west of the main drag (Memorial Parkway) the apartments are very quiet. The residents appear to be retirees, young professionals, and military personel from Redstone Arsenal.

The paint is peeling a bit on the eves of the buildings, but considering how old they are, I'm not surprised. The other night I met a gentleman in the clubhouse who said he'd lived here 20 years ago and the apartments are just as quiet and clean now as they were then. He also said that management doesn't tolerate any trouble, which contributes to the generally nice feel of the place.

I've lived here for 16 months and am quite happy with the Malibu Apartments.
