You will know intimate details about your neighbor if you live downstairs. You will hear the slamming of cabinet doors, every step they make, overhear telephone conversations (especially if they use the phone while in the bathroom). Difficult to sleep at night if they pace the floors (because of all the creaking etc). There's a major draft during the winter in my master bedroom, and I occasionally smell cigarette smoke in my bathroom from one of my adjoining neighbors. Maintenance has been out two or three occasions to plug holes under the sink in my bathroom, but I still smell smoke.
nightmare trying to leave complex during early morning and 5pm traffic.
Plus side: generally nice neighbors and convenient, friendly staff
