I just moved here from a different state and had family members help me find the place. The apartment shown to my family was described as very similar to the one I'd be in and it was not. Despite several calls from the pushy leasing agent who was holding my apartment making sure that I was still going to rent the place when I arrived, my apartment was not ready when I arrived. The sliding patio door would not open and close, screens were missing, the kitchen sink leaked, lights didn't work, and there were cosmetic issues with cracked switch-plates, etc. I got the run-around about getting these things fixed initially and had to press hard to get things taken care of. The agent told me that this was a low priority compared to all the broken air conditioners and water heaters in the complex. Either way you slice it, that's just not good. They had a whole month (and have plenty of my money in holding fees and deposits) and should have fixed these things before I even arrived. By the time I arrived to sign a lease, it was too late to look for a new place.
Also, the landscaping around the office building looks great and supposedly got a beautification award, but that's not the same thing as your apartment! It appears that the cheapest and most rickety construction methods/materials were used. I can stick fingers through the gaps around my patio door and there are cracks in the ceiling (probably from a bad foundation). My unit has new carpet, but it is so cheap and thin that the nails that stretch the carpet stick up in many spots. Also there are 2-4 inch gaps in the sub floor and there is simply no floor under these areas of the carpet. The paint they use is cheap and comes off like chalk. I'm all about being thrifty, but this place simply uses the cheapest and lowest grade of everything possible. It's ridiculous. Additionally, a "wonderful" fitness facility was shown to me but the first time I went to use it nothing worked! That's false advertising and taking your money.
To get in and out of the complex you have to take a left turn at an intersection with no traffic light and there is heavy speeding traffic in the morning and evening due to the close proximity of Research Park. There was recently a very bad accident at this intersection that landed both parties in the hospital. I have not noticed safety/crime issues yet with the unit I'm in, but will be taking out homeowner's insurance. My building is usually very quiet, except for when the neighbor is watching TV or their dog is barking. The one thing I love about my unit is the large walk-in closet. So far the only pests I've had to deal with are the many hornets on the patio and spiders that leave bite welts most nights...no visible signs of roaches yet...so that's great! The water in Huntsville is so clorinated that it tastes like pool water, but that's not really within the building's control. I realize that every place has its ups and downs and I'd like to have more positive and encouraging things to say, but I am not impressed with the customer service, quality, or honesty of this place. Rent includes garbage, but not water or anything else. I've lived in a wide variety of places and so far it just doesn't seem worth the price for how inexpensive Huntsville is supposed to be.

This is probably the best and most detailed description I have read and unfortunately, would have to agree with every bit of it.
