BETTER than Jacksonville Place

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
I've lived in these apartments for almost 3 years. I have 2 children, and I live in an upstairs apartment. Would I want to live below me' Yeah, right.
These apartments are not that bad. The walls are sort of thin, but you have to hope you get good neighbors.
Management doesn't mess around here; She's nice, but very firm. Neither does the security guy. YOU HAVE TO OBEY THE RULES. They keep a good eye on the apartments. I have always felt safe here. Even with two small children and being alone at night.
The only thing that's really bad is the carpeting. I think they are in the process of putting new carpeting in when someone moves out, but they won't put new carpeting in mine even though it's been pretty gross since I moved in. They really strive to keep these old buildings up to date. They've remodeled closet doors, replaced ceiling fans. (That is a plus.)
Don't try to live here if you want to party. One of the rules is that if you are making too much noise at night whoever you are bothering is NOT supposed to call security or management. They are supposed to call the POLICE. Seriously. If you want cops knocking on your door at 2 in the morning cause some neighbor THINKS you are loud, then this is the place to live. A neighbor had the cops called on him in the middle of the night cause he was knocking on his own door trying to wake his girlfriend up. Our surround sound was too loud one night.....
Let me sum it up:
You can get on rental assistance here. It is based on need. In about half of the apartments the rent can be reduced to nothing, depending on need.
Pest control once a month. They will come in your apartment on the second Monday of every month whether you are home or not. Keeps buggies away, and that's nice.
Very clean and tidy landscaping.
There's no drug, gang, or safety issues here. I always feel safe.
Walls are too thin. I hate being able to hear my downstairs neighbor talk, and we don't like the same music.
Problems are dealt with very quickly.
No BBQ grills on the porch. Very limited items allowed on the porch. (There is a gazebo on the grounds)
A basketball court on the grounds. A swing set and monkey bars are here, too.
Management is very strict.
Maintenance is very nice, but you have to stay on their butts sometimes.
Security is really nice, and usually pretty quick. (VERY talkative though)
NO laundry hook-ups in the apartment (laundry room-$1.25/wash $1.00/dry-washers are pretty tiny)
MINE NEEDS carpeting, but I know a lot have been recarpeted.
Not a whole lot of room, but I have a family.
SUPER close to JSU. I can make it to every class in about 10 min, even when traffic's at its worst.
Grocery store right across the street.
2 pharmacies right by us.
Wal-Mart is 5 min. away.
I would stay if the walls didn't seem to be closing in on me. Too small for a family that's growing.
