Absolutely the place to live! Customer service and Maintenance dept's are the best. The grounds are beautiful and the apartments are beautiful w/ great views. We can truely call Madison Grand home. Thank you!

I am thinking about moving to Colonial. However, I am concerned about all the extra charges that people complained about in 2008. What is the status on the cable television and trash valet charges? Have there been any other hidden charges added that are not included in the advertised rent on apartmentguide.com?

I currently live at Colonial Grand in Madison and yes there are some extra monthly fees. Our water heaters are gas so we pay both gas and electric bills. In total for my two bedroom apartment the utilities are about $80 per month (gas and electric) in the winter and less than that in the summer. The cost for water/sewage/door trash pickup ranges from about $27 to $30 per month (for my two bedroom...I think it's less for a one bedroom apartment by about $10). I am not aware of the ability to opt out of the trash pickup. It would be nice since I rarely use it anyway. They added free basic cable which was nice but make sure you sign up for it through the office otherwise you will have a time dealing with Knology about it. A plus about the gas water heater is that there is plenty of hot water to use. So I don't mind the extra charge for that. All in all, it has been a pleasant experience. As with all apartment complexes, you may have to deal with some odd neighbors from time to time. But any noise after hours (10pm to 7am) is dealt with by the management in a timely manner. It is nice and quiet here. I've been here almost 4 years now and am very happy with the place. The one at Edgewater also charges an AUM fee (same as our water/sewage/trash pickup) which is basically the same cost as what I pay at Madison but they do not do the valet trash pickup service.
