Be Careful and Aware

About the LEASE: Be careful of the lease agreement! You will not get your security deposit back if you move out early (completely fulfilling the terms of the lease - clean, undamaged, rent paid in full, proper notice to not renew, turn in keys) and the apartment complex re-rents your apartment - YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK! They are required by law to not charge double rent and so, you will get any balance of rent that coincides with the next tennants lease term. Basically, they are asking you to not fulfill the complete term of the lease (pay the full 12 months) because they want to rent it to another person and then penalize you by not returning your security deposit. BE AWARE and see if you can get that changed in your lease before you sign it!! If you fulfill the terms of your lease, you should get your security deposit back even if they want to re-rent your apartment before the end of your lease! After all, it's not your fault!
About the NOISE: Initially we were mislead about how noisy the trains where that come roaring by only feet from one side of the complex. They told us no one had ever complained and that the trains hardly ever came by. They come by at least 5 to 12 times a day (and all through the night) since there is a hub nearby. The breeze ways in the apartments only funnel and magnify any outside noise such as trains, loud kids, booming car stereos...etc.
You cannot hang anything on the walls due to them being made of a thin layer of dry wall. A plus is that I didn't seem to hear other people in their apartments (I could have just had good neighboors)...but I could hear everything echoed from outside the door.
