I don't think that this particular apartment complex is the one that you intended to write about. I live here, and though I don't think it's heaven or worth the price paid per month, we don't have gates and there's no City of Alexandria anywhere in the vicinity. This is a small 50 or so unit apt. complex in Alabama. Security isn't in our rent because we don't have security.
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience where you lived, but I don't think you meant to place your review with this complex considering we're not gated, we don't pay for security, etc.
That being said, I really like it here. The first year was AWFUL! The management was horrible and it was just as the first reviewer describes. It has since gotten much better. The apartment manager that we have now (we went through another one after Natalie) is wonderful. She really cares about her tenants and about her job. Anything I've asked from her that's been do-able, she's done. We still have the 2 or so tenants that are trash, but other than that it's really quiet for the most part. The occasional "bass-thumping car" is annoying, but it's no where NEAR what it used to be. There are a few new rules that I feel are silly, especially being a parent (no chalk drawings...even if you clean up after). I'm more disappointed in the broken promises that the first management fed me than anything. We moved in here with a child, because they said they were going to build a park and a pool, maybe not on our complex but in another one they owned for sure and all the tenants here would get key cards to use the facilites at the other complex...yeah, that ain't happenin. We're staying here until we can buy a home (hopefully later this year) and other than parking being a small issue, I really can't complain at how this place has shaped up. I'd recommend to anybody.
