So sad..

I say this because this community has so much potential. I have lived here for a year and a half and have had a bittersweet experience. Why'

Well, the property is just beautiful. The lake, the landscaping, the views, the peacefulness. There are tennis and racquetball courts..a nice pool area. Everything about the place is so attractive. My apartment (1 bedroom/1 bath) is very spacious...HOWEVER

The first week I moved in, water suddenly began dripping through my kitchen ceiling. It was around 10 p.m. so I quickly dialed the emergency maintenance #. It rang..and rang..By then the water was pouring..I was cleaning with buckets and towels all night. Maintenace never returned my messages. First thing the next morning, I went to the management office and asked an office worker about their policy on emergency maintenance requests (even though I already knew the answer). After she proudly went through the rehearsed speech I informed her of the situation and she did not even seem alarmed. She just smirked. When she finally got in touch with the person who had been on call the previous night he simply said he had his cell phone on silent. Ohhhhh..

Well, I did try to be understanding because mistakens can happen.Well, a couple of months later, a similar incident occured with the kitchen sink..One request..two..three..four..five...after six requests over a 3-month period..I finally got someone to come look at and fix the leak..Strike 2'

Still trying to keep the faith. One day I received notice in my mailbox that an oversized package was left in the mailroom of the management office. I went in to retrive it only to be told that it was not there. Hmmm...Maybe it got sent back to the post office. I was a bit skeptical since the worker spent about 5 seconds in the package room..but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. On lunch break the next day I went to the appropriate post office and my package was not there..I figured I would try the office onnnne more time. I walked back in and asked if she could re-check for me...Well..the package was there all along..the worker just did not bother to check the second shelf containing packages the day before..Well, the faith had slipped by now.

The most recent incident was the final straw..Yet another package incident..Last week I received a note in my mailbox for another oversized package..So I took a deep breath and walked into the office. Handed them my slip and waited patiently at the door..Nope..they did not have my package..I asked if I could double check and they did let my check for my package..It really wasn't there..and this was an even bigger problem. The workers suggested I check with the mail carrier. So the next day I waited to talk to my mail lady. When I explaied she rolled her eyes and said she gets complaints all the time..She assured me she brought my package to the office. She quickly commenented that the management seems to be very lazy and this "happens all the time" with them. If she only knew...

So I called the office..and here is the overview of the conversation:
Me:"Hi I just wanted to double-check on a package arrival. (re-explained the whole incident)..talked to the mail lady..suggested I double check...seems to have been lost in your office..."

Voice of Inverness: "Well, what do you want ME to do about it'!"

Me: "I was hoping you could double check (too much to ask''') b/c I was thinking perhaps it got misplaced...if you cannot find it maybe you can make a suggestion as to what steps I should take next.."

Inverness employee: (yelling) "Well, what do you want me to tell you'! I'm just NOT sure what it is that you want to hear''''!!'!"

Me: "Ok..well, you know what..I'm sure you're very busy managing to the best of your abilites..as are the rest of your employees..And I know I am asking waaaay too much of you when I suggest you check around the office or maybe even ask another employee for help...so I will definitely let you get back to work..Have a nice day.."

Inverness emplayee: "Yeah..ok you too BYE!"

My bottom line' Look, I am willing to be flexible when it comes to most things..BUT the things I listed above are just a few out of the DOZENS of incidents with the management (Sawyer Realty). The management team just must be seen to be believed (although I obviously don't recommend it). It is comprised of about 5 or 6 women who bounce around the office with paperwork (blank papers perhaps) and a false sense of urgency. They appear friendly and competent..until they are called upon to do their job. They cannot hold eye contact. They are unwilling to put forth the effort to answer questions and seem to have no knowledge of management. They yell at customers and I even caught the MANAGER telling a blatent lie...twice. The list it too long. About 4 months ago, a resient went around the property with a petition full of signatures of those who have experienced this service.

Do yourself a service and look elsewhere. I made the mistake of moving out of a wonderful apartment complex in Mobile without doing my research first...Inverness lured my in with its serenity and good looks. I've experienced apartment management in several cities including the sheer hell of Manhattan...Inverness is simply the most horrible.
