Great location, good rates

The location is great, and the apartments are pretty nice. The rent is only a little more than some apartments that aren't nearly as nice, and it's a lot less than a other apartments that are much newer and nicer -- but that still can't beat Arbor Station for Location.

The good: The apartments are very roomy (I have a one bedroom that's over 900 square feet, extra storage room, big back porch). They're very quiet -- I rarely hear something from another apartment. Once in a while someone will get on their back porch and play music or be loud in some way, and then you can hear it -- but that only happens a few times in a year. I've never seen a mouse in the apartment, and that's a big plus to me. You do get roaches, spiders and ants from time to time, but never an infestation. You'll just see a few now and then, and I have a friend in a newer, nicer complex in town who pays $200 more a month in rent, and he gets bugs, too. But he doesn't have a washer/dryer in his apartment like I do. There is a 24-hour fitness room -- just be sure it the equipment you like to use actually works. The treadmills and elliptical trainer are great -- the bikes don't work right (wobbly wheels and seats), and the management says they'll get it fixed when you report it, but after reporting it a few times over about a year, they still have the same crappy broken bikes in there. That said, I think it's typical of most apartment complexes that management isn't too responsive on things if they don't have to be.

Ohh, also in the good, I've always felt safe here, even coming home alone late at night. Sometimes cars get broken into -- that is a hazard at apartment complexes. But that's pretty rare. I've never heard of an apartment break-in here, and the only really violent crime I heard about during four years here resulted from a domestic dispute, not from someone breaking into a home.

The bad: They don't always fix problems that fast. I've had a recurring problem with my toilet stopping up and overflowing. The apartments I lived in before this, I never had that happen in five years. Here, it can happen a few times a month. And they just act like I'm flushing something I shouldn't be (although I flush nothing different than I ever have flushed in my life). I finally figured out how to keep it under control better - switched to thinner toilet paper -- seriously! But I remember times the maintenance men got surely about the toilet complaints, and they always carried in a plunger (yes, I tried to plunger it myself but couldn't always unstop it), they would use it in the toilet, then carry the plunger out dripping toilet water on my rug! Ugh! And the leases do suck. No clause to let you out if you move out of the area, and they increase a lot if you sign a short lease.

Overall, though, the great location near I-85 and right next to a beautiful park, as well as being quiet make it a really good apartment choice.
