A Pretty Good Place ... So Far

I have only lived at Barrington Place for about five months but here is what I like and don't like. It's a very convenient location to a lot of things including restaurants, two nice malls, AUM, grocery stores, a hospital and post office. The security gate is more of an annoyance than anything. You have to use a card to get in as opposed to a remote, so you have to put your window down in the rain and risk damaging your wheels to get close enough to the scanner to use the card. Anyone without a card can get in simply by waiting and following a resident with a card. It's laughable security. The pools are very nice as are the grounds. At night, it's generally very quiet except for the hum of all the a/c units. In the daytime, work around here seems to start early, even on the weekends, and loudly. Since I work a night shift, this drives me crazy. The design of the buildings and the layout is very unique, with apartment balconies placed in positions to provide privacy and many apartments have 1 or 2-car garages. This keeps the place looking uncluttered and neat. The neighbors I have met have been very friendly, some military and some retirees. In my area of the site, residents seem to clean up after their dogs routinely. The appliances inside the apartment all seem to work very well. The carpets, though, are very cheap. They fall apart and are constantly clogging my vacuum with pieces. My biggest gripe of all is the air conditioning design. It hardly blows in one of the bedrooms, the one that faces the afternoon sun, and combined with seemingly poor insulation causes my electric bill to be much higher than a three-bedroom house I owned. In August, my electric bill peaked at $225, high for a two-bedroom apartment. Maintenance personnel said nothing could be done about the way the a/c blew in the one bedroom because it was a poor design. Generally, I do like the place and may live here for awhile. The scenery is nice and it's pleasant to watch the geese around the ponds. Street post lights frequently are out and slow to be replaced. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
