You Don't Always Get What You Pay For

I have been a resident of Colonial Grand at Promenade for 8 months. What appealed to me most was the landscaping and the "curb appeal" of the complex. I'm not sure what happened, but in 8 months, I have noticed a complete turnaround in the appearance of the grounds. None of the damage resulting from hurricane Ivan has been repaired - there is siding missing off several building and one building still has blue plastic tarp over a portion of the roof. The pool, which was beautiful when I moved in, was a disgusting shade of green by the end of the summer. I know of several residents who complained about the pool maintenance, but it never seemed to be addressed. I can only used one side of my double-sided sink. The side with the garbage disposal does not have a stopper. I tried to buy one, but the drain isn't a standard size. Maintenance keeps telling me they will get me one, but in 8 months, I haven't gotten it. The vinyl tiles at the kitchen and bathroom sinks stick to your feet when you walk away and pull away from the floor. My apartment has not been sprayed for infestation since I've lived here, despite my complaining of an invasion of ants this fall. My furnace/air conditioning filter has not been changed in 8 months. I've tried to buy one, but again it's not a standard size and I can't find one that fits. The garbage dumpster is always full and I have noticed roaches most times I drop off my trash. The main panels on the mailboxes are in need of repair. If you wanted, you could reach into supposedly secure mailboxes and take mail. None of these issue are major and I could live with any of them in a complex where the rent is in the $500 a month range. But when paying $800 plus a month (more than most mortgage payments in the area), you expect all these issues to be addressed and resolved.
