Never Ever Live Here!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/25/2004
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
When I moved to Troy Place two years ago, it LOOKED like a very nice place to live. Instead of ranting I will list all of my problems with the complex...
1) There are no parking permits, and very few parking places. You are extremely lucky if you find a parking place even remotely close to your building, especially if you live in the 2-bedroom building in the back, where there is no connecting parking lot like the other buildings have. It's not SO bad in the summer time, when people are home for the break, but once people come back for the school year, it's a nightmare. Don't be decieved by all the empty spaces if you view the units during July or early August.
2) Management is HORRIBLE. It used ot be ok when I first moved in, but the new guy is a chauvinistic pompass jerk. When you confront him with your problems, he is very degrading and you leave feeling like an idiot -- ESPECIALLY if you are female!
3) The ants are EVERYWHERE. They come into my apartment through the wall outlets. They invaded my bed once (through the plug next to the bed), and my bathroom twice (through the plug by the sink). The ants also get in my car and invade our balcony on nearly a monthly basis during the summer months. When you call for pest control, they just tell you the bug man will come spray, which hardly helps at all! The mad squirts in a few corners and leaves -- I've watched him do it.
4) They never clean the property. Rude, careless people live here, and the maitenence man is even worse. Trash has been known to just be strown all over the lawns and parking lots and stay there for 3 or 4 days at a time. This includes anything from beer bottles and cigarette butts to full bags of garbage. It's disgusting!
5) Even with quiet tenents, the apartments are very loud. You can hear every step the people are taking both above you and below you. Forget sleeping if they're watching TV or playing music even slightly loudly.
6) Don't be decieved by the included "garbage service." It is simply a huge, nasty dumpster at the front of the complex where every single tenent has to take their garbage. This is VERY inconvienent, especially if you live near the back of the complex. It is so far away, most of us put our trash on top of our cars and drive it to the dumpster.
7) The units are very cheaply made. In mine, for example, you can't open the diswasher because its perpindicular to the stove, and close to a corner. When you go to open the dishwasher, it slams against the side of the oven door, keeping it from opening more than 8 inches. You have to open the oven door to open it any further than that, but you still can't open it all the way. It's REALLY hard to load the bottom rack of the dishwasher that way.
8) It is out of the way of everything. It seems convienient at first, but once you live here for a while you realize how out of the way of EVERYTHING it is. That's really annoying. Plus, it's right by the middle school and elementary school, so it's nearly impossible to get into the complex from 2:45 - 3:45 in the afternoons, because of hundreds of school-traffic cars that flood the tiny street. Plus, the really-scary kids that live in the ghetto RIGHT BESIDE Troy Place often cut through the parking lot to get wherever they're going. Makes me feel really nervous about my car being out there, where there is NO security.
I guess those are my major complaints. The only thing OK about Troy Place is that the units are aesthetically pleasing, and they are well accomodated with washer and dryer, dishwaser, and garbage disposal -- something a lot of places in Troy definately don't have. BUT, for nearly $400 a month PER RESIDENT (in the 2-bedroom units), and $300 a month PER RESIDENT (in the 4-bedroom units), it is REALLY REALLY not worth it! SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
