For The Most Part, It's Alright.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
Living in Troy Place has been alright. I just moved in four months ago before the school year began in the Fall. The place is very nice and well-kept. Management has apparently changed AGAIN since the last time most of the other users reviewed. The manager is very friendly and does anything and everything she can to make sure you are happy in your apartment. I have no complaints with the management whatsoever.
HOWEVER, I do have some severe complains -- such as the monthly inspections. The administration comes in whenever they feel like it (with most of the time having no warning) at least once a month to check your apartment. One day I didn't answer the door and they came in anyway and even took a key and broke into the room of one of my roommates who was not there to check her room, which is very rude to me and a severe invasion of privacy (and also breaking some laws), also considering when you pay rent on an apartment, it is YOURS regardless of who actually owns the property. That's one of the things that majorly turns me off about living in Troy Place -- even though it's an off-campus facility for college students, you are still treated as though you can't live on your own without close supervision at least once a month to make sure you haven't damaged anything. After this year at Troy Place, I'm moving to a non-University owned housing complex.
Another smaller complaint is how they choose roommates. They use an online profile-matching service which allows you to look at profiles and choose your roommates. However, this isn't very effective because the women I am living with now are nothing like they say they are on their profiles. Of course people lie on those things so you never HONESTLY know who you are getting put with. I ended up with terrible roommates who break every rule and regulation that Troy Place has set. I have turned in MY OWN ROOMMATES on several occassions for noise, having a male LIVING here without the personell knowing and even DRUGS.
Besides those complaints, Troy Place is alright. I think if you can handle monthly inspections (and hopefully in the future, a stronger opinion will be expressed about those and that policy will change) and you choose your roommates or already know them before you sign up online, then Troy Place is one of the nicer places to stay -- for college students.
