I was the first to move in, and even I hated it!

I got hired on to Troy Place when prior to it opening as the Network Admin. The then manager was pretty nice, and I felt that it was going to be a pretty nice place. It was still undergoing construction at the time but due to my job I got to move in early to finish setting up the network there, and that is where the nice stuff ends.
For nearly 2 months after I moved in I kept reporting to my boss, and the tenant manager that the network was damaged, and what few people we had were not all getting service. They cared enough to finally get the fiber cable repaired, but they still charged the customers for access they didn't have!
I did a walk through my apartment as I lived alone in a 4 bedroom unit and made sure to document everything I could. So I wouldn't get charged for it later, more on this in a minute.
So yea, as everyone else says, the security here doesn't exist! Within a few months of living there there was a frat party upstairs from my apartment (2nd floor) I went out on my balcony only to see someone standing in the bed of my truck taking a leak! As I start to yell at this fool, I apparently upset the frat and within minutes I had about 20 guys beating down my door drunkenly, next thing I know me and my friend and my girl friend are being jumped. Now at the time the "Emergency Handles" still worked. Yea, I pulleld that and it set off the alarm all right, by the time the cops pulled up sometime later, people were fleeing the scene past the cops and they did nothing! Now this of course landed my butt in the hospital for a bit, and when I get back to my apartment and try to get back to work I find out that Troy place fired me because I wasn't able to work at the time. After the new year a new manager took over and she was even worse then the previous manager. They began to increase the price of the units, and started to do the room checks. Yes, they would walk around the area and inspect the property to see what damage "you" caused. Yep, they tried to charge me for cleanup that they did not do for cigarette butts on the ground in front of my building. I didn't smoke, yet they wanted to charge all of us for it, and told me to pick them up! Soon after they started to come and inspect your rooms, and with out warning. Due to my classes I might be sleeping, though it didn't matter. They would just knock on the door, then enter. I had complained since day one about the carpet coming up in the living room and they tried to suddeny blame me for it! After a year of living there it finally got busy and I got 3 roommates. I refered two of them, but when I went to collect my referer fees I was told I couldn't collect since they never put me down in the "other" section on the comment card. Finally I left on some really bad terms in the winter of 01, and shortly there after I recieved a phone call from there Lawyer stating they were charging me for 5 grand worth of damages to the unit! Stated they had to replace the carpet, the kitchen linolem, front door, bedroom carpet and bedroom furniture, as well as the living room couch. I went back to the unit and spoke to my friends who confirmed the unit had recieved no such damage, or repairs! For that matter the bedroom furniture I used was my own personal furniture as I had them pick up there furniture.
So yea, the truth about this place, There is only one way in, and one way out. It's right in front of the line that forms for the schools to get there kids dropped off, so don't expect to get into or out of the complex during school hours! The garbage system is just a large dumpster that compacts right in front of the main building. It's normally broken and will be overflowing with garbage. Your beautiful new apartment, yea it's over shadowed by the section 8 houses (Ghetto) that surrounds the entire complex! Can't tell you how many nights I heard gun fire, or watched a drug deal go down from my balcony!
The gym, it's a tiny little room with really crappy equipment, and the game room...we had a broken pool table, a ping pong table, and a small TV. Also, it's not very fun when you have all the utilites in your name, and you have roommates move in. Suddenly now you have to figure out how to get your roomies to pay your bills with you, or else your screwed! The pest were a large problem also, the bug man never showed, and they just gave us a small cup of ant killer to sprinkle around our home, which doesn't work to well with pets! The construction of the units was done cheaply, most stuff was broken, or would break! Shortly after opening we had two sink holes form. One in front of the main building, another right next to the unit behind the pool. I was never happy there, and was happy to pay my fee to break my lease! If you do move in, take pictures of everything, and protect your belongings or else you will find them missing when you come home and find your door unlocked or even standing open from them doing an inspection!

I've lived there for two years and everything he said is correct. I am busting my ass to get out of there. Thank God my lease runs up in August. I hate that place. It is really unprofessional. They are a bunch of morons who know nothing about running an apartment complex. Horrible location, horrible equipment, horrible housing and horrible people. I cannot sit here and explain with words how much hatred I have for Troy Place. Good Riddance!

I had to move my son out of Troy Place due to his roommate selling and doing drugs. He lived in a hotel for two weeks to finish the semester! He moved home and transferred to the university in our hometown, but yet, Troy Place is holding us to the lease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't move into Troy Place!!
