It is not worth the cheap rent

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
This is my first year living at Canterbury, the rent is cheap about $544 for my roommate and I. The power bill in the summer averages $160 in the winter around $90. Cable is whatever you want to pay. I feel like the power bill is very high for such a small place and we keep our air 2 degrees above or below outside temperature depending on if it is hot or cold out, and we keep lights off as much as we can. The windows do not shine in light well they are dirty and have some sort of film over them where light cant get through so well. They promised us new carpet and linoleum and we do NOT have it, I understand some apartments do but they should not PROMISE it to everyone who signs a lease if they do not have it in every apartment. Bugs are a major problem I clean every two days.. a complete scrub down of the apartment and no matter what the bugs are everywhere! Not only cockroaches but other bugs too.. I don t even know what kind. They come and spray monthly but only the kitchen and bathrooms it helps for about 3 days. For about the past 4 months they have been in the shower when I m in it they will come out of the ceiling down the wall and run around everywhere in the tub! I wake up with bug bites too. My roommate has woken up with them in the bed. I have opened the bathroom cabinet and found them crawling through my toothbrush!! We have had our cabinets bombed to help but it hasn t, it helped for about a week. Azia said they would set traps in our cabinets and come back and check 3 weeks after they bombed it and they didn t. In the bathroom there is a piece of cardboard nailed to the ceiling to fix a hole. The molding along the ceiling and floor is not even attached there are holes and its coming off where you can see right into the roof. The walls are cinderblock which you can deal with but on room is surrounded by other apartments and the other has two walls facing the outside making it a LOT hotter or colder depending on the weather. It is not that loud but you can here yelling from other apartments or the tv, or if someone is outside you hear EVERYTHING.. they have onsite laundry room but it is very very dirty in there I would rather take my clothes elsewhere. The rooms and closets are big but I would prefer more counter space and a place for kitchen table. The apartments are for the most part the same layout The manager will tell you they are ALL the same.. they are NOT some have a different kitchen, they don t have a bar which makes it that must worse because the only counter space they have is a cake pan size counter top. The water get scalding hot but you can NOT take a shower while someone is doing the dishes or the water will go from scalding hot to freezing cold in seconds. The drains do not work well we have to constantly ask for them to come fix them and the knob makes a weird noise and the entire sink shakes and you feel like it is about to fall. There is a lot of mold in the apartment and they are not very clean when you move in. Pets are NOT allowed but that does not stop people from having them the manager knows but does nothing about it there has been feces on the walkway and loud barking some times. There is also a lot of drug use by residents which causes the outside walkways to smell of marijuana. Bottom line the rent is good but the apartment complex is not.
