The management is horrible. The ------------ lady lies to my parents all the time on the phone about giving my roommate and I bulls**t fees every other day. It's seriously something new to annoy us on a daily basis. They fined us $25 for leaving the garbage outside my door overnight... Because they haven't bothered to replace the light bulbs in the parking lot between my apartment and the trash area... And they expected me, a 100 pound girl, to walk there, alone, at night, just to throw my trash away at their convenience. The fact that I threw it out at 6am the next day apparently wasn't good enough. I came home from class at 2pm to find another one of their "fine notices" on my door about it.
I have mice in my apartment, and the management doesn't seem to care at all! I called when I discovered them, and they literally told me it wasn't "an emergency", then proceeded to tell me that mice was not THEIR problem. I haven't slept there since.
So... I've you're assigned to my building... There's probably mice in your walls, having sex and reproducing by the thousands while you sleep.
There's also really, really big spiders... Like half-dollar sized ones. The management says their not poisonous, and also (as you could have guessed) "not their problem". And they're EVERYWHERE. I'll sweep them down in the afternoon, and by the next morning, they are all over my porch/door again.
My ceiling also leaks in 3 rooms, and they have yet to do anything about it, despite frequent complaints. I think a lot of the electrical wiring is also kind-of "thrown together", if you will, because the lights flicker when you shut doors and stuff.
The sample apartment you see if very nice, but BEWARE, the actual units aren't nearly as nice!!! They "replaced" the linoleum in my bathroom before we moved in, but it looks like they just poured bleach on the old stuff, and threw up edging (like the quarter-round stuff) all around the sides to hide where it was peeling up (including in front of the bathtub... weird!). I feel like I was ripped off.
So, if you want to pay $500 in fines on top of your rent every month, and deal with the rudest, most unprofessional management on the face of the planet... Rivermont is the place for you!

I lived here in college... 2 years ago and I SWEAR I lived in this building. HUGE spiders and cockroaches... mice in the walls making all sorts of noices. I had a waterfall in my bathroom on a Friday night and had to wait till Monday till they came to look at it. My car got broken into twice and they never cleaned up the glass, it was hard to find a parking spot on the weekends and the drive to campus could be a pain in the ass. Don't even think about drinking and driving home on Rice Mine unless office mcdonald has finally resigned. Not a convienent location.

I have lived at Rivermont for the past two years and I absolutely love it! I do not see how anyone can complain about it at all! The girls in the office are always so friendly and polite, as are the maintenance guys. I have never been fined for anything and have never seen the first mouse. I am also a 100-pound girl and have never once felt afraid to take my trash out at night. I have never had any trouble parking and have always been able to park right in front of my apartment. As far as location, I honestly don't think the property could be in a better location. It literally takes me 15 minutes to get to campus, even in rush-hour traffic. I am 5 minutes from Wal-Mart, Target, and the mall. I have lived at other apartments in Tuscaloosa and I can honestly say that I would not live anywhere but Rivermont!

5 minutes from Target and Walmart? are you serious? What kind of car are you driving? It takes 5 minutes to get to bridge to cross the river. As for building maintenance, etc, I lived on the top floor and when someone moved in to unit next to mine, they pressure washed the siding and wood deck on that unit's half and stopped at mine. Seriously, there was a straight line diving our to halves of the building. And my half looked life crap, so any idiot would have continued to clean both sides.
Also, the metal rim around the drain of my tub was cracking so I called to have it replaced. The idiot repair man came in with a hammer and screwdriver to gouge it out and ended up taking out chunks of my tub. At the same time I complained about the bathtub spout coming loose from the wall (over 1/2 inch from wall), and he used to tape to repair it! This was just one of the many times I had to end up cleaning up the mess made by the brain trust maintenance team which usually ended up with me going to Lowes to get the materials to repair it myself!
Also, one night I came home to pick up my mail and sitting on the curb were 5 male 'guests of our country' pretty much blocking my way to the mailboxes. They just stared at me (female all alone) so I quickly got back in my car. The next morning when I called to complain and to ask what the hell was going on, the staff told me I should have told them to move. What the???
And don't forget there was an attempted robbery and shooting in the parking lot in August.
Girls, DO NOT LIVE HERE!
