We had a great first year with The Cliffs and was "automatically renewed" for a second year just before our wedding. We never had any problems, never called in any complaints. Our wedding was on the 6th, rent was due by the 4th. With the craziness that surrounded our wedding, both of us thought the other one paid the rent. We did not go on a honeymoon immediately after, so when we got home and started to relax, it came out that neither of us paid rent.
First thing Monday we ran a check down to the office that she happily accepted and wrote us a receipt. They even congratulated us on the wedding.
Fastforward a week and there were cops knocking on our door to remove us - we had been evicted. Keep in mind that we were two days late on rent. According to Lindsey standards at the time, they would wait 7 days until giving a warning and 30 days until eviction. Come to find out, she had already signed an affidavit before getting our payment and filled eviction papers after getting our payment. Not a word to us, no notice on the door - you get the picture.
So there we were, one week after getting married, preparing for our honeymoon, and now homeless.
Oh yeah, they cashed that rent check. So we were out another $700 on top of paying movers and having to crawl into a pricey townhouse (all we could get at the time). They immediately reported a $3700 bill for "repairs" (remember - we used a moving company and the apartment was emptied when we left) to creditors. Isn't that nice of them'!

It was a great apartment with a view of the lake, shaded, it was beautiful. Great place to live, just be careful of the management.
