Don't ever rent with Lindsey Management

My wife and I lived in these apartments from June 2006 to February 2008. At first we loved it because it was a big step up from The Links in Fort Smith (another Lindsey Property). To start, when we moved in there was a huge hole in the laundry room door, apparently from a punch fueled by the drunken rage of the past residents, which is located where anybody who comes over can see it. We were told when we moved in that a new door was ordered and would be fixed within a week. After 5 work order requests, a year later, and a threat to withold rent, it was fixed with a door that didn't match the other one. Another time, on a Friday night the door knob broke on our pantry door. I went down to the office to ask if it could be fixed. Karen the manager asked if it could wait until Monday. I informed her it would need to fixed before then so we could eat over the weekend. She told me to "just take the knob off." Next, on the street we lived on in the property, a dumpster sticks out about 6 feet, right behind a parking space. You had to be extremely careful not to hit it. My mother, who is not familiar with the dumpster or the property, came to visit and unfortunately backed into it. When we went to tell management what happened, Dewitt (new manager)got very confrontational with her and starting yelling "it's not our fault." I called the corporate office and the city to see what could be done about the dumpster with both parties blaming the other. As far as pets go, on three different occasions (everytime management changed)we were asked for our cat's photo and shot records. Also, they say they don't allow "aggressive breeds" for dogs, only to find somebody in the apartment next to us had a Pitbull changed up on the porch barking everyday. The problem with Lindsey Management is they hire white trash to manage their properties. Trust me, I know. I've lived in 3 different communities in 3 different towns. You may ask why I keep renting from them. Let me tell you, in Arkansas you don't have much of a choice except for in Fayetteville. They raise rent everytime you renew your lease. When we moved out I had to call the corporate office 3 times and wait 6 weeks as opposed to 4 to get my deposit back because management didn't fill out the paperwork properly and if we didn't call we probably still wouldn't have it. As for the apartment, it was nice but don't be fooled by the square footage. They count the porch and there is a lot of wasted space that you can't do anything with. I recommend going with another company. Update 04/30: I forgot to add one thing, dog crap is EVERYWHERE! When I asked to have the smoke alarm battery changed, they informed me "we don't do that." There are vaulted ceilings in the top floor apartments, so I had to put a barstool on top of a dining room chair to change the battery instead of them bringing a ladder.

One of these days we will have the technology that will tell everyone when you are not telling the truth........ I will admit that there are things about Lindsey that I don't like but it is a great place to live if you follow the rules and abide by the lease. I moved into the Cliff's 2/05. I will admit that Karen was a terrible manager but they never asked me for my pet's shot record, picture yes. And I was in the office when your mother came into the office demanding to know who was going to pay to have her car fixed. Brenda and Dewitt were as nice as they could be to her. I would have told her to get new glasses. Yes the dumpster sticks out but it has been that way forever..... All you have to do is look where you are going. If you have to put the stool in chair, how short are you???? Now from now on, tell the truth.

I have been at the Cliffs II since May of 2006 and I have never had a problem with management. In fact, I actually liked Karen and thought she did a good job. Of course, I view the apartments as temporary living until I get out of school, so I don't let the little things bother me. I guess I can see how people that plan on living in an apartment their entire lives would get picky about management, but still, you are in an apartment. Go buy a house and you can run things the way you want.
