Whatever you do, DO NOT break your lease, they will take it to the limits to get remaining months that are left on your lease in cold, hard cash.

That's not true, antisomerset. The complex I live in now only requires you give them a thirty day notice. They allow you to break the lease with advanced notice. If I left tomorrow? Yeah, they'd clean me out. But if I give them the notice, they fill my apartment without charging for the whole lease.
