I am a military wife, my husband was assigned to do some training at Little Rock Air Force Base. We lived about 12 hours away when we got his orders so we were forced to find a place to live online, without going to check them out first. We ended up choosing Eastwood because of the proximity to the base and where I work (about 5 minutes). The management is very friendly and helpful, she was very understanding of our unique situation. When we arrived in Jacksonville the area immediately raised red flags, the businesses and buildings surrounding the complex are old and in disrepair. The people we could see walking around and in these businesses seemed less than upstanding.
When we finally arrived at Eastwood the sidewalks and walkways of the complex are completely torn up in construction (but I never saw anyone working), in many places the grounds are covered in standing water, there is no grass it's all muddy and gross. The apartment I was in had new carpeting, which was nice, all of the woodwork (cabinets, counters, doors, etc) is very old and extremely outdated. The apartment was spacious, but the floor plan was very strange. Unfortunately due to the military rules my husband had to live on base so I was, in essence, living by myself. Although the grounds and apartment were not up to my standards I could have dealt with that if it weren't for the area. Jacksonville itself is not the best place to be living, but this particular neighborhood (James St.) is the worst, the only word to describe it is ghetto. I did not feel comfortable driving in the area when it was dark, and I was always felt a little uneasy at night. We signed a month to month lease and I ended up staying only for the first month and then moving again. I would not recommend this complex to any woman who will be living alone, or to anyone that wants a place to live with any curb appeal.

I am a single woman and live here at Eastwood. I feel it is a very good place to live. The grounds and sidewalks have all been redone now and with the background checks done here I don't worry about my neighbors. I would highly recommend it to anyone. As a matter of fact I have and now have family members here also.
